Man in a Bath
This is ever so slightly off-topic (although it is about the theatre, which burlesque is a form of, so technically it's not really) but I thought I'd post about it all the same.
As some of you may already be aware Rufus and I are directors of Rhymes with Purple Productions who, aside from our adventures in burlesque, are primarily a theatre company in the traditional sense...puttin on plays!
My third piece as company playwright is making its debut at this years Glasgay! Festival, Scotland's annual celebration of queer culture. If some of you are in town and fancy it, we'd appreciate the support - thanks!
Man in a Bath - written by Louise Oliver, conceived and performed by Alan McPartlan & directed by Frodo McDaniel
What's just below the surface of things? Random thoughts about laundry, train-times and left over Chinese? Stinging thoughts about missed calls, missed opportunities and where to go from here? What about skin, hair, muscle and bone followed by lavender scented bubble bath and those annoying bits of pot-pourri left over from the always disappointing and inappropriately named bath bombs.
Get in the bath and strip it all away; the dirt in your head followed by the skin, muscle and bone. Strip it all away and cleanse your body and soul, submerge and re-surface - fresh, clean, enlightened. Submerge and find out what is just below the surface of things.
Tuesday 28 October - Saturday 1 November @ 7.30pm, £8 inc. pre-show refreshment
Q! Gallery, 91 Saltmarket, Glasgow
To Book - 0141 552 7578

I will try and get along if I can, but I might have to kill you at some point. You're over-achieving and considerably younger than me, and frankly I'm not sure I can put up with such behaviour. I'll probably take out Rufus too. He's not younger but he's still more successful so he's fair game.
Don't worry, I want to enjoy the play so I'll wait until after the show! Might even wait 'til the end of the year so I can get a few more Sketchy sessions out of you!!

Now, now, let's not get carried away...you've not seen it yet! It may be gash!
Thanks for the kind words all the same, glad you like the copy Beatrix (I fear it may be better than the play itself )
The programme/brochure came out on Monday, our entry looks really good thankfully. The launch party is a week today so I need to practise hiding the fear from my eyes and looking like I'm on top of it!

I'm a prat. I just realised this morning that I pass the Q! Gallery every morning on my way into work. I'd heard of it before (picked up a brochure for it once, I'm sure) but had no idea where it was. Then this morning we passed it and I said to my dad* "Oooh that's where Lucille's play will be!". I'd looked at it a thousand times and never registered what it was (although to be fair the sign isn't clear!).
I'll be in Birmingham from the 30th October to 2nd November so I think I shall shimmy my large arse over on the opening night (might be packing on the second night!). Oooh what to wear, what to wear??
* I would just like to add that my dad was VERY impressed that you'd written a play, Ms Burn. He was even more impressed when I told him that it wasn't your first. "That's excellent, good for her!" was his response. I think he's pleased I associate with clever people!
