Very much with Lucille on this one.
Might be worth pointing out that Cheesecake will be hosting their own festive night in Capitol sometime in mid-December and, just in talking to Alabama Rose, the line-up sounds pretty frickin' killer. Keep your ears close to the ground for this one. As per, just entrance charge -- no charging per table -- but, naturally, I do expect offerings.
Who has a deity complex? Psht!
xx CL

A friend pointed this out to me recently - Ed Fest are a high-end glossy magazine and see a lot, they know what they are talking about - and I thought, yikes! Guess it wasn't just the punters

oooh that's harsh! Well perhaps not harsh, I suppose if it really was that bad. But that must sting anyway... No one wants a review like that of their club, but hopefully they'll learn from it if nothing else.

Ok, I've never been to Club Noir and I couldn't pay that kindof money even if I wanted to, but does anyone else think the reviewer might be being a tad faececious? I watch as much burlesque as possible and pretty much every routine has SOMETHING going for it, even if it's just a good interaction with the audience or a decent grasp of aesthetics. Seriously, I think you'd have to be pretty jaded to watch a whole night of burlesque and not enjoy it! But then, I wasn't there, so maybe I'm just being a tad naive.

I joined this site about three weeks ago with the sole intention of expressing my dissatisfaction with the Club Noir event but it's taken me a while to realise that I needed to join the Scotland burlesque group before I could post in it's forum. I think that if more people realised this, you would see many more comments from dissatisfied people like me. Maybe the owners of this site should stop restricting people posting here as it makes it look like this site and the Club Noir owners are working together to stifle honest opinion about this abortion of an event.
I was going to have a major rant, but the review shown above says it better than I ever could. What I will add is that I too received an arrogant letter from the Club Noir people which, to paraphrase (the original email was badly worded and punctuated), said "You're obviously not intelligent enough to understand the genius of our show, so fuck you, we don't need idiots like you!"
They keep mentioning that they are the biggest burlesque club in the world even though IMO Vegas in Edinburgh seems to be bigger, but that asides, they think that biggest means best. Far from it. Malady De Winter said that every act must have something going for it, but it's a measure of how little emphasis they place on the performance aspect of their club that I don't think that I would pay to see any of their performers elsewhere.
On a final note, I think that somebody should speak with the owners of this site (moderators) and ask why they are clearly trying to make it as difficult as possible to let people know the truth about Club Noir. They're probably getting some form of kickback too

Well, you can start up a thread about any subject in 'burlesque chat' so you are free to complain about anything there.
I might not be a moderator but I know for absolute certain that there is no collaboration of any kind between the Ministry of Burlesque and Club Noir. To express that idea you might be someone in the know, determined to disguise it and looking for mischief, or you genuinely don't know and have a suspicious nature!
If you know anything about Club Noir you'll know why your guess that the Ministry is shielding them is very, very outlandish. If you don't then, take it from me, I used to work with Club Noir and know for a fact that they don't work with any other organisations at all.
The Ministry has nothing to gain by restricting anyone's freedom to complain about Club Noir but there isn't much to be gained by complaining about it here either. The two organisations are so separate that anything aired here will probably not reach Club Noir. The best way to do that is to contact them directly, but, as you have found, they aren't open to your opinions.
However I think it is right for people to express their views of dissatisfaction with a show or a performer that they've paid money to see, so that people don't get their reputations by self-generated hype alone, and so that other potential audience members can be warned that they might be parting with their hard earned money for not much in return.
Send a PM to a moderator about this if you like. I'm sure they don't mean to restrict anyone.

I agree completely with Leyla.
I have to say, Wee Jimmy (love the name!), if your letter to Club Noir garnered no worthwhile resolution or you felt that you got the brush-off; then don't stand for it - perhaps send another letter explaining that you feel they haven't taken you seriously as an aggrieved customer or maybe complain to the venue that booked the event?
The MoB forum does seem to have an unwritten rule of not slagging off anyone - but opinions are always welcome!
Let us all know how you get on.
