Britain HAS got talent!
I'm re-posting from my email- not my thing at all, but if anyone out there fancies ritually humiliting themselves. Sorry, I mean auditioning for the publics entertainment, then now's your chance!!
Hi There,
I'd like to inform you that we are in the process of putting together the second series of Britain's Got Talent.
Hosted by Ant and Dec the show gives entertainers the opportunity to show case there talent in front of a panel of three of the most influential people in entertainment: Amanda Holden, Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell. The winner of the show (voted for by the public) goes onto perform at the Royal Variety Show.
After the phenomenal success of the first series which broke ITV viewing records(Over 9 million people tuned in to watch the live final), this year promises to be even bigger and better.
The show is open to absolutely everyone. Last year we had a huge variety of acts and talents, from singers and dancers to Jugglers, Dancing Dogs, Fire Breathers and Acrobats!
The competition was won by Paul Potts a mobile phone salesman form Wales who secretly harboured a passion for Opera. His rendition of Nessun Dorma earned him Ă‚Â£100'000 in prize money, a recording contract and a spot on the Royal Variety Show. Even acts who didn't win profited from the amount of exposure the show gave them and find themselves in great demand.
To enter you can apply on-line at ITV - Britain's Got Talent - Home . You can call us on 09014 88 44 44* or you can request an application form by writing to us at BritainĂ¢€™s Got Talent, 1 Stephen Street, London W1T 1AL
We will be auditioning all over the country and coming up to Glasgow in November. Perhaps some of the acts that appear on your Vaudeville club nights maybe interested? I'd be really grateful if you could forward this information to the relevant parties
If you, or anyone else has any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
I look forward to receiving your reply
Kind Regards

hmmm!
the question is any publicity good publicity when you are on a self-promoting mission...?
maybe i'm too cynical about the media moguls and the viewers!
when i think of all the tacky instantly forgettable stuff you could be reminded of at a later day (eg: sheila's wheels) - is it really, really worth it?

You never know there could be talant scouts there plus the other people auditioning could be interested and book an act they see.

Never, never, never! No way! Horrible programme, horrible people! Good old traditional working up the ladder and earning my stripes for me, no whoring myself out to the media to fastrack my career! These programmes make me very angry.

Yes, possible - but you have to remember that your act could end up on telly - and you'd have little - make that no - control. The TV programme would own all rights. Ultimately, the TV programme is there for public entertainment - and that means seeing people make fools of themselves - nationally. Even good performers have bad days - but if you're not at the professional stage, it could be more detrimental in the long run as you'll be remembered for something you did wrong, rather than something you did right.
How cynical I must sound!
Personally, I think shows like this cheapen 'live' entertainment and also, I don't find them very diverse - they always seem to reach out to mainstream bland audiences.
That's my 2 pence worth!

Fair enough. I agree they do like editing things to make people look silly.
What also annoys me is that they did a talent show meant for talents other than singing(as we already have enough singing shows)and yet a singer won it!!

I think we need Annie to pop along and tell you what she thought of how everyone was treated at the boot camp of this season's x factor. An eye opener

I agree with absolutely everything Twinkle, Kitten and PA13 (out of curiosity is that a postcode?...) said above.
The only positive thing I think about BGT is that it's putting "variety" back on the national entertainment menu. Which is great, especially for the Britannia Panopticon Music Hall who do their own variety shows once a month, as it becomes slightly easier to lure more audience in, because the punters can liken it to something off the telly other than "The Good Old Days", though everything in the show is as particular to the Edwardian era as possible.
