Celebrating our 3rd Birthday...Dr Sketchy Vs. Torture Garden!

CELEBRATING OUR 3RD BIRTHDAY...DR SKETCHY VS TORTURE GARDEN!
~Hosted by Lucille , Rufus T & The Not So Impressive Ben~
~With live music from Gorman~
~DJ Set from Dee of Itsy Live~
On Sunday 18 July Dr Sketchy Glasgow is turning 3 and because we are always determined to out-do ourselves from year to year we are giving our cabaret-life drawing sessions the ultimate twist.
Since our inception at The Arches, home to the most cutting edge performance and live art available in Scotland, we have had some very special artistes model on the Sketchy Stage - from Miss Exotic World Winner and NYC Burlesque superstar Dirty Martini to world renowned illustrator and Dr Sketchy founder herself, Miss Molly Crabapple .
For our third birthday party we are teaming up with Edinburgh-based alternative event collective, Itsy Live and the world’s most famous fetish club, Torture Garden to bring you DR SKETCHY GLASGOW Vs. TORTURE GARDEN.
Torture Garden - Itsy Live are responsible for making Torture Garden and their incredible events accessible to Scottish clubbers. TG's multi-dimensional events cater equally for a huge range of open-minded individuals from young fashionable clubbers, alternative arty types and burlesque cabaret fans to sophisticated fetish regulars by creating an environment that accepts and encourages individualism, diversity and free self-expression.
Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School - Founded in 2005 by New York illustrator Molly Crabapple Dr Sketchy is the little Brooklyn event that became a global phenomenon. There are now over 80 sessions taking place across the globe and Dr Sketchy Glasgow boasts one of the largest and most unique.
Our Sketchy involves live music, performance, themes, games, drinking and the weirdest and most wonderful models we can get our ink-stained paws on.
We have received full-page spreads in The Scotsman, graced the cover of The List Magazine, featured in countless TV and Radio features and even had one of our regulars produce a high-profile exhibit of work from Sketches produced at the sessions that was featured as part of Glasgow Art Festival.
So needless to say, we have a lot to celebrate!
This summer the world’s biggest Dr Sketchy session goes head to head with the world’s biggest and best fetish club in one of Europe’s best multi-purpose arts venue.
Our models....in the Torture Garden corner...
Empress Stah – London based Trapeze Artist, Neo Burlesque Starlet, Fetish Freak & Twisted Cabaret Performer. Her critically acclaimed work is at times, Light Hearted, Pornographic, Humorous, Blasphemous, Slightly Left Of Centre, Extreme, Politically Incorrect but above all Entertaining! ::EMPRESS STAH::
Dominic Johnson – Specialising in extreme performance art and body mutilation, Dominic Johnson has performed at venues and festivals in the UK and internationally. He is a lecturer in the school of English and Drama, Queen Mary, University of London, and received a PhD in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of art in 2007. His writings have been published in various journals and books, and he has edited two artist monographs (on Franko B and Manuel Vason). http://dominicjohnson.blogspot.com/
Joe Black - The neo-vaudevillian, the real life Disney villain, the gin-addled courtesan, the anti-christ of cabaret and the one and only waltzing cynic... Eccentric to international stages, Joe Black takes to shows in an almost cartoon-esque theatrical assault, sweeping the audiences through an array of show tunes, ballads, and a rather varied but fine selection of morally questionable entertainment. A glass of wine in one hand, and an utterly ridiculous and inappropriate prop in the other.
