Review
Hey Dr Silverlight (and anyone else who missed Red Door on Wednesday)!
You and Suzuki were missed on Wednesday, but I'll see you both soon!
Well, Red Door was a wee bit quieter than usual, but the crowd were still really enthusiastic and gave all the performers a great response.
I was delighted to welcome Kiki Masho onto the Red Door stage - she'd only made her debut at Dr Sketchy's just 3 days before, but she put on a stunning Anti-Valentine's act that had every guy's jaw on the deck!
Scarlett Flames performed her 'Smooth Criminal' act for us that was very slick and sexy with a good reveal (don't want to ruin it for you), and her Yummy Mummy act which was great fun and a brilliant costume.
Vanitie Caise made her Glasgow debut with a sultry Jessica Rabbit tease routine, and a fun zombie routine.
Mocha Deluxe was, as ever, polished (and bendy!), and did a very cute balloon pop, then a Chicago-inspired reverse strip. As ever, a pleasure to watch and work with.
Chassy van Klaas and Sparky Strange reprised their 'Bullets' double-act at my request, and then....their War of the Worlds double-act was phenomenal!! I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to describe it, other than one of the most impressively-costumed and well-put together acts that I've seen in a long time! (Don't be dismayed if you missed it though, I WILL be booking it again!).
Mia Meow was stunning as ever (Best Bum in Burlesque!), and performed her Stupid Cupid routine, and the beautiful fan-dance that she premiered at Red Door a couple of months back (again reprised at my request!) - I love getting to book performers and request my fave routines!
I premiered a new act to Kylie's '2 Hearts', but I won't tell you anymore, I'll just let you see it soon!
Lucille Burn and Chris Gorman provided us with highlights from 'One More For the Road', Lucille's debut solo show which is this Monday, 22nd February in Glasgow's Art Club - do NOT miss it. If their 3 selected songs were anything to go by, this will be a great night.
Rufus as ever provided a brilliant start and end to the night with well-chosen show tunes that had me and my helpers high-kicking in the aisles!
The Not So Impressive Ben provided some beautifully performed comic songs for us, and kept everyone chuckling.
So, all in all it was a great night! (If I do say so myself!). We again raised a goodly amount for The Panopticon, and the next Red Door will be Weds 17th March - more details TBA!!
Thanks to everyone who was there - performers, audience and helpers!
Dolly xx
