Default Load of old bellows...

Okay so this is random but I've been thinking for a long while about adding a musical element to my new tight-wire act...

I was thinking saxaphone but i've tried that and it's a bit scary with my hands in front, i can't really balance correctly...

so i was thinking...accordian??

can anyone here play one and if so is it reasonable to learn? i do play quite a few instruments already but figured an accordian would look lovely and also could play with balance by opening and closing arms...

what do you think? also aren't they quite expensive?

What about one of those Bontempi keyboards.

I can actually picture it now, not only would you be able to use the built in drumroll to add suspense to your act, but just before you reach the end, you could mix in a bit of bossa nova before changing the instrument into a trumpet to do a nice TA-DAH! at the end.

Or what about a pipe organ like they have in churches?

mwahahaha i'm sure i've mentioned these fellows on here before i did have an ace bontempi keyboard with FOUR types of bossa nova and a fur elise demo section... i also recieved the 'new kids on the block chord book' with it.

i'm a bit scared of pipe organs, i always think someone's gonna die...or alternatively the phantom of the opera may pop up.

nahh i think i'd like a little bit of klezmer music and even accordian versions of pop songs like "do you think i'm sexy"...

p.s. just reminded me did you know richard of right said fred is 54 years old! irrelavent and random but all the same shocking!

Dude, that's IMMENSE. Shame on you for no longer possessing said keyboard.

The only thing that could even come close to being as good is one of these Yamaha bad boy keytars!

Damn rare 80s nostalgia for being so expensive!

mwahaha thats awesome beatrix... wish i did have one of those...

however due to my beautiful local music shop who know of my 'whims' they do a rent to buy scheme that is also a "don't know what you're doing do you?" trial...

so for a mere £10 per month, I've got this beautiful thing... on which i can already play the title track from amelie (apt i thought) and 'when the saints go marching in'

bloody heavy though

That's amazing!!! I have a teeny tiny music box that plays the theme from Amelie.

Next job, Gogol Bordello! Then you can provide a live accompaniment when I next do my Black Widow act >_<

As for the weight issue... looks like you're just gonna have to get strong, huh?

wow i could be like a travelling minstrel, accompianing burlesque performers up and down the country... i have opened a new door for myself!!

as for getting strong... as on 19th Oct I am a fully fledged full time performer again so back to eight hour training days regardless of whether i pass out on the floor....excellant!

off to play with the squeezebox... edd just tried it out and wasn't wearing a top and managed to mangle his nipple in it... my eyes are hurting from the tears of laughter!

I thought of an act with a saxophone, would be great, though I cant actually play, though trying to learn. For that matter, haven't performed except for the end of a workshop with the lovely Bella Bresame, so perhaps a little ambitious...would love to though.

A sax would look lovely, especially if you can play it without using the strap! I suggest a tenor or alto as just the right size though. Maybe a mini cello or bass, you could semi-hide behind it to remove certain clothing items.

An accordian or similar would look great, especially as you have more movement with your arms, and Im sure you can hire them on a try it out period rather than buying one, unsure if they're difficult to play though, looks tricky. Maybe cheat by having music in the background which you pretend to play to? Gives you more options for the instrument at least!

It'll be interesting to see what instrument you decide to try out! Can't wait to see!
