Default New Years Eve performing fees....

hello,
I've been invited to perform at a venue on New Years Eve, but I wonder what the protocol is for such a night? The usual fee doesn't seem quite right...

any thoughts anyone?

Rose

I'm quite torn on this one myself this year as the people who have asked me to perform are people I've worked with in the past and get on really well with, and they did me a favour this weekend (they run the club we used for the photo shoot). Hmmm I think I'm answering my own question here.

Previously though my agency offered me rates of about 3 times my usual, but also take into account I'd be performing longer and later

Will be interested to hear the other views

3X your normal fee is about right + Accomodation as it's normally a fortune to stay over and you won't want to drive!

To be honest I think this venue are looking to get something for almost nothing, cos they asked me too, I quoted £80, which is dead cheap considering I normally get £50/60 per act, and I've had silence since. Don't think it's a burlesque venue usually so they may not know much about such things. I'm still quite new so I didn't want to be unrealistic with my prices.

Default licensee's side of the coin

Most reputable venues expect to pay more over the Xmas & New Year period and rightly so! On average with bands and solo artistes we usually end up paying a bit extra for Xmas week itself, Xmas eve's always about double the normal cost and New Year a bit more so. Politeness usually throws a couple of free drinks their way also.

I guess it'd vary from one venue to another but why should a club be rolling the cash in over Xmas and the staff/artistes helping to bring it in not see a penny of it?
