Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend - Balloon pop?
Hey all
Currently working on some new acts and I wanted to check it hasn't been done before. Been working on a balloon pop but I had to change my choice of music as someone else had done it already, so, does anyone know of a balloon pop to Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend? I know it's a popular all-round song, but I thought a balloon pop could be cool.
Thanks
Daiquiri xx

Hi babe,
It doesn't matter if someone has used the song before for a 'balloon' act - you will put your groove on it. It is a crowd pleasing, well known song, which I do think is good. It would be nice to link the idea of diamonds in tho...ie glittery diamond type dust in the ballons, or in the last one as a tie in to the music, or reveal that you are wearing 'diamonds' under the ballons.
Sorry, got a bit carried away, but there is my cents worth.

Hi
I personally havent seen it done and think its a lovely idea. I agree that even if it has been done somewhere, it is a very popular and well known song and im sure you will put your own style into it. I cant see that it would cause any problem x

There is another performer who uses a song that I use too, but our acts are quite different. I don't see it being a problem unless you are performing at the same place at the same time really. I think it sounds like a fantastic idea and the idea of 'hiding' diamonds under the balloons is great, it'd look really good. Shame it can't be real diamonds though eh.... ;-)

Oh that sounds a lovely one, I have heard of people using the song but not for a balloon pop that should be cool.
Good luck

I recall my friend and troupe member Dolly Mae used the song but not with balloons, the song is such a standard that I wouldn't worry if someone had used it before even for a balloon pop!

Thanks guys. Just didn't want to tread on anyone's toes. And Gypsy - glittery stuff in the balloons is exactly what I was thinking!
The reason I asked is earlier in the year, I had posted a bit on my myspace about forthcoming act ideas and was contacted by a very well-known international performer who had a balloon pop to the number I was going to use. I had no idea, but it was my fault for not researching it properly but she was quite upset and thought I was trying to rip her off. We got it sorted though, just didn't want it to happen again!

Hi babe,
In the end neither the song, balloons, glitter, diamonds etc etc belong to one 'person', an act may be similar to someone else's or have been done before in a similar fashion - I have seen all these elements in acts at some point or another. That doesn't mean you shouldn't create your own. Sigh! The only time that would be a 'problem' was if two very similar acts were scheduled on a bill togther.
So I say 'carry on my dear',
