rise above it, love. most hecklers of that ilk - and in my experience, at burlesque events they are usually women, are fundamentally jealous that they don't have the skills or the guts to get up on stage themselves, so they have to belittle the performer to make themselves feel better. the best response is simply to ignore them. if they make you angry, good; use that anger to fuel your performance.
and don't forget that even though most burlesque dancers don't talk, there are other ways you can 'talk back' to a heckler. being on stage makes you vulnerable, but it also makes you powerful.

that sucks!!!! Yes. At angel cake a couple of weeks ago, i was being very distracted by a group of ladies that thought it was amusing to give me a commentary throughout the entirity of my performance.
what it stems down too is pure jelousy and just pettyness. Let it o over your head sweetie. They arent worth it xx

I've had similar experiences when I've performed at events where bands have been heavily promoted and the burlesque performances in-between the sets have been listed on the flyer/poster in teeny-tiny text, usually in a corner or at the very bottom. In such instances, lots of people turn up to see the bands and get annoyed that they have to stand through burlesque performances that they couldn't care less about nor came to see. To be honest, I empathise with their irritation and for that reason I'm now more wary when it comes to performing in between music sets and endeavour to enquire about how the burlesque aspect is promoted before committing to performing at such an event. I don't want to 'force myself' upon an unreceptive audience - it's not fun for any one.
I think it's happened to most of us at some time or another Miss Mina, and you know what they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

i think if you put yourself out there in the 'public eye', unfortunately you have to expect it some time sooner or later
not nice but hey that's life.

Did you notice my near-collapse on stage? I've not fallen off those shoes yet, but I'm sure the time will come. Before I got on stage I had a slight fear of that night being the night I fell, and falling straight off the stage. Yeouch. It would surely have broken my ankles!
Miss Mina - I'm glad to hear you're feeling better ^_^. Being asked back for more shows is a very good sign indeed! xox
