For a long time when I googled my real name one of the top results was a Glasgow woman who pushed her child out a high-rise window and is now in Carstairs state hospital! Not someone you'd want to be mistaken for!

Ooh wow, you don't want people googling that!
I sometimes wish I had a more anonymous name. Mine is quite unusual, so nearly all of the results on Google are me. Although there is a girl on Bebo with the same name as me who is full of "Alrite bruv. Yea, r u going out 2nyte?" and I pray that people don't think that's me!
It must be a lot easier for the Sarah Smiths of the world to keep their identities private.

Oh my god I just went on that pipl thing and searched a few random people to see what happens, wierdest thing is my grandad, the only person it found. Gave me his name, address, telephone number, date of birth, how much his annual income is and the valluation of his house?! WTF? Why on earth is all that on the internet. Bloody wierd, I'm gonna end up one of those paranoid people who never have a job or anything cos' they're scared of people finding info on them!! The internet is officially creepy! Mxxx

Very creepy stuff but if whoever is responsible doesn't follow it up you might be best off just filing it and ignoring it - if there are follow up messages you might need to contact myspace and the authorities - as it is a myspace posting they sent, can you access the sender's myspace page? - you don't have to join as a friend to read it - the page might give you a clue or two as to who it might be, ie, a right wing Christian, someone who targets lots of other women in such ways, etc and even their location, which if its not near your home town or somewhere you are performing , will tell you its less likely you'll meet them - good luck and don't let them frighten you - that's basically all such messages try to do - bogeymen can't hurt you - they just shout Boo. the person who sent you that message is a coward of the first order.

that has made me so worried. I remember sitting at work one day & my colleagues decided to google my maiden name. they ended up finding a livejournal community I used to be in - there was nothing embarrassing in it but I'm sure someone could find caches based on my username & find out something else about me.
I am actually quite careful about personal information I give out but sometimes I forgot all information's public & make posts likes hooray I cannot wait until the London Tattoo Convention which isn't really a bright idea if someone wants to look for me. I have lots of myspace friends who don't know my surname but know where I like to eat my lunch.
argh, as I was writing this I heard a floorboard squeaky upstairs.
also the point about having two different email accounts is valid. on some websites people can search for you with your email address so make sure your personal email address is not linked to your modelling portfolio.
