    Default skirt sewing help

I have a lovely victoriana skirt that I just had to buyovr a year ago down to £25 from £175... BUT it is a little on the small side. I know how I can extend the sides a bit with a lace infill and moving the lining around and undoing their seams ..... but I am a learner at dress things ... i can see what to do and can get the images in my mind I just have difficulty in actually making it reality....

is there anyone in the bucks/berks/N London/W London area who could help me make this a reality....pritty please.

I reckon you should take the plunge and just unpick the seams.Youmay find once you unpick them the way of progressing comes alot easier to you.Its making that first step thats daunting.Eveif you dont progress a eamstress would have to unpick the sides so your not doing any harm.

yes, I agree... Un pick the seams and then put your inserts in. alternativel you could put a section in the back. But make sure there you've got enough fabric for a bigger waistband (you could always use the same material as the inserts for this as then it'll look like it's suppoised to be like that)

thank you both for this, unfortunatly the insert at the back wount work as it is a bustle design. however the sides are easy and I have had a lot of practice in unpicking things (I often go wrong) so I will do as you suggest and see if I can get my nerve up to actually do it. ... I jsut don't want to ruin it as it is so nice..... but I then need to dye it anyway as the colour is not so good (muddy brown) so black cold wash dye will also be done on it but only once I've done the insert.

    thanks again XXXX
