I would very much like to go to New York for my birthday in November this year as it has been a long held dream. Every time I have tried to go before something has happened to prevent it. However, I am very broke.

I was wondering if anyone had any hints and tips regarding getting there and staying there on a very limited budget? Also, tips on good things to do when.
