    Default I have 20/20 vision!

On Saturday I had my eyes lasered at Moorefield's. Today I went for a check up and I already have 20/20 vision and it is still improving!

It was the best thing I have ever done.

I was gutted on Friday night not being able to go to High Tease but now the sacrifice was worth it!

thats brilliant...ive worn glasses since i was five and now permanantly wear contact lenses, i get the night and day type that you can keep in for a month...close as im going to get to having "normal" vision...i had thought about lasering a few years ago but i was told my eyes probably wouldnt be suitable as the prescription had to remain the same for three years prior to the surgery...dont know if this has changed any but its great to hear success stories like yours. xxx

Your prescription has to be stable for a year now. I have been thinking of getting it done for about 6 years now in that time things has moved on.

I still can't believe I can see so well already!

    Yay!
    So, so happy for you.

Obviously you'll now have a much better aim when it comes to throwing chips . . .

How much does that cost if you don't mind me asking? My eyes are fine(ish) but my sister has terrible vision and has to spend about £30 a month on contacts because she won't wear her glasses (she says they make her dizzy which I can understand).

The boyfriend has absolutely awful vision too, but he's been wearing glasses since he was a wee lad so I doubt he's that bothered about them. They really suit him actually, I always think he's strange if he puts his contacts in... he only really bothers when we're going somewhere like a theme park where glasses are majorly impractical xx

I sometimes wear glasses (TV, movies, driving, but not reading, computer, etc.) and I don't mind them at all, but I only have one pair and the frames are fairly modern. I'm on the lookout for frames that are a little more appropriately co-ordinated with my top hat and tails attire, without making me look like Harry Potter! If anyone can point me in the right direction, please do point!

On the down side, I have a hospital appointment today to confirm whether one of my retinas is becoming detached. If it is, I've been reliably (mischievously?) informed that the remedial procedure involves, basically, scooping the eye out of my head, repairing it, and plugging it back into my skull.

I must admit to feeling rather faint!

    Congrats!
I had laser eye surgery done 2 years ago before my wedding, i had worn glasses full time for about 20 years so never imagined the day i wouldn't have to. It was quite scary, but i now have 20/20 vision as well and it is fab! I am an advocate for laser eye surgery... def worth the investment. Well done for being brave enough to have it and i am so glad it has worked out for you.

I can now quote the Understanding Retinal Detachment pamphlet from RNIB and RCOphth:

We want to reassure you that the surgeon does not take your eye out its socket to operate on it.

So clearly I'm not the only anxious buffoon if they include this reassurance in the literature!

Another quote, this time regarding post-operation recovery:

You can resume normal activities, including sex, as soon as you feel able.

Eh? Maybe I'm just too innocent, but following eye surgery, I'd have thought
You can resume normal activities, including crosswords and sudoku, as soon as you feel able.
would be rather more appropriate advice!

Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Miss Diamond Blush , I'm glad things worked out and you can drink in all the colours and textures of the world! If I end up requiring surgery, and it ends up being similar to vision correction surgery, I may be back here for some advice.

    Cheers!
