I got the use of a bigger hoop today I think it was a 38/40inch and it was even easier to get the hold of tricks than I was finding it with my 36inch.
I'm discovering size depends very much on how you want to use hula hooping and you dont really know whats right till you get your hands on one.
I can see me ending up with a bit of a collection! x

Having seen Pinkie Special 's hula hoop performance last weekend at The Wet Spot, it inspired me to have a go! This thread has been a great help with the inspiration too.
I've ordered a 1kg 36" hoop, but i think i'll end up wanting a bigger one for tricks and maybe a 2kg one for more toning. But i'll have a go and see if i get bored within a few weeks or can keep up the interest
In the absence of local classes , does anyone know if dvd's are any good? I've seen a few, which seem to be more workout based. But i'd mainly like to do it for fun and tricks. Anyone used any dvd's?

I've got this book and DVD...
[ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0761152415/ref=oss_product]Hooping: A Revolutionary Fitness Program Book & DVD: Amazon.co.uk: Christabel Zamor: Books[/ame]
its quite good... I tend to just guess what you have to do by the pictures instead of reading tho. I need to give the dvd another go ... the woman talks like a bit of a hippy and didnt explain the method to well... telling me to 'let the hoop wriggle over me like a wet noodle' is not an instruction!
youtubes the best bet... there are some really good videos!
