    my ultimate quote is "To thine own self be true" from Hamlet - i've got it as a tattoo on my foot. To me it means basically be who you want to be and be true to youself.... if others dont like you this way... thats their problem... dont change yourself for anyone (After too many years of trying to change me to "fit in")

    This my friend, is one of the truest things ever written. I love Philip Larkin too! (I'm glad you left out the swearing!)

    Yay, another Larkin fan!

    I would have written the whole thing out but I really think the last stanza sums it up perfectly.

    I squealed the other day when a woman on tv started quoting Annus Mirabilis. But at least she credited him, unlike the time Skins ripped off This be the Verse:

    Character 1: (I'll leave the swearing out for you) "They f*** you up"
    Character 2: "They don't mean to"
    Character 1: "But they do"

    Grrr!!!!

    I think there's a theme here...

    This planet has - or rather had - a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small green pieces of paper, which is odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.
