Question Any Poetry Lovers Or Poets About?

    Hello and well met,

I am a huge poetry fan, in fact I am a huge romantic and very geeky I know but I also love Shakespeare and as I was part of a Shakespeare group I have two plays completely memorised.....bit sad really isn’t it

Anyway apart from being a poetry fan I also love things with a dark twist, I myself am a Goth and love the romantic vampire portrayals. I have had a hard life and it has put me into dark places at times and one of my ways of dealing with it was to put those dark thoughts into poems.

I have always been a little scared to share my poetry as some of it is quite dark, and I think it is hard to find people who can appreciate the emotion in them.

I was wondering if some of us poets and poetry lovers could share both our own work light hearted, romantic or dark and your favourite poems.

I think poetry can be a huge inspiration and affect our emotions, something that in a way can be taken and used in any performance, or even simply just trying to put together your 'Alter Ego Persona'.

Anyway enough from me, I want hear from the community I know so many of you are incredibly talented. I would like to share some of my poetry with you but I would first like to see if there are people in the community that are interested in darker poetry.

There are a few good websites around that cater for such things.

The one I use at the moment is "Deep Underground Poetry" billed as "The hard, dark and dirty side of poetry".

It has sections for dark poetry (or goth as you mentioned), love poems (for the romance) and also an erotica section.

    Links for the sections:

    Dark Poems
    Love Poems
    Erotic Poems

Now as a Director I'd love to put on Macbeth as a "Gothic romantic vampire" style play..... Ohh yeah.... That would rock...

Also I've been known to write a few poems myself....

You are far from me, because you want to be.
I must try not to move too fast.
Keeping your distance each day, feeling safer that way.
I must suffer because of those in your past.

When others have your time, how I wish you were mine.
I feel so sad when we are apart.
But on shall I wait, leaving our love to fate.
You are far from me, yet in my heart.

Soppy git at times I am...

you must read a woman poet of my country....She was really dark. She dies(she kills herself puting the head into the oven) Her name was ALEJANDRA PIZARNIK.
She was bisexual and very intense...She had large poems and very shortly poems too with a extreme emotional intensity. Here I traduce one of that:

    THE OPENED EYES

    SOMEBODY CRYING TAKES A MEASURE
    OF THE DAYBREAK EXTENSION´S
    SOMEBODY STABS THE PILLOW
    SEARCHING FOR AN IMPOSSIBLE
    PLACE TO TAKE A REST

    ALEJANDRA PIZARNIK(BUENOS AIRES-ARGENTINA 1936-1972)

    MyWorldMyEyes:

Well if you like Vampires here is a couple of my poems you might like:

    Forbidden Whispers.

What would you ask of me?
Would you ask that I beg?
For I know that I would.
I would beg with tears and flesh.
I would beg for that which I covet so.
I need, I fear, I loathe and love it.
You hold that which would enflame my passion.
For I can taste it below your skin.
I can feel the pulse of it rushing to be free.
I can hear its call to me.
    ‘Hunger’ it screams, ‘true hunger.’
‘Have you not released it before?’
    ‘Known its warmth?’
    Yes I scream.
    ‘No’ it seduces in return.
‘No you have not filled yourself from me.’
‘You have not sated your hunger.’
‘Not as you could from me.’
‘I can make you burn with pleasure.’
‘I can make you cry for forgiveness.’
‘You will never be satisfied after me.’
You are my torment I cry.
You are the untouchable crimson flow.
    How I would feel you.
How I would taste that sweetness.
I would fill my mouth with the warmth of your life.
    The wine of your soul.
I would die at the pleasure of it.
Am I always to be denied so?
    ‘Who denies you but yourself?’
Be gone I cry, leave me.
Let me be without your whispered promises.
    And yet do not go.
Do not leave me to the void of nothingness.
I need the closeness of your flesh.
The pulse of the forbidden within my reach.
The world just one bite away.

    LOL... Nice...

I'm reminded of a little ditty...

From the film, "Company of Wolves"..

Little girl, it's true to say,
    Never stop upon your way.
    Never trust a stranger friend.
No one knows where it will end....
As you're pretty, so be wise,
Wolves may lurk in every guise.
For now, as then, it's simple truth..
    Sweetest tongue, has sharpest tooth...

    I got a few more....

    My Blood.
    I give to thee,
It is the water of my life.
    My Blood.

    My Heart.
    I give to thee,
It is the hope of my life.
    My Heart.

    My Soul.
    I give to thee,
It is the path of my life.
    My Soul.

    My Body,
    I give to thee,
It is the earth of my life.
    My Body.

    My Love,
    I give to thee,
It is the gift of my life.
    My love.

Wrote that for a young lady years ago.....
