Ahhhhh Bedford....
I just returned from the Shire....visiting friends, although i did live there for 3 years!
best bet in bedford town is a place called The Angel
Its completely unfounded information but if anywhere in the central town was going to do it it would be there and if not, start one there...I'll come!

No Eddie, your second night is on the 18th October - same night as ours, although ours is Burlesque Noir.
On the 18th we have Miss Golden de Licious, Lili La Scala and Miss Pink & Fluffy performing for your entertainment pleasure, with a variety of rock, alternative and vintage music from our various DJ's in between.
We also have a second night confirmed for Sat 13th December at the same venue: already confirmed is Miss Pink 'n Fluffy, plus TBC: a belly dancer, a 'Jessica Rabbit' act and a Shibari Rope Bondage demonstration - suspension if we can fit the beam into the venue!
All up-close-and-personal at a much more intimate venue, with alternative DJ's in between - as well as our residents, we have secured one of the 'Last Gang In Town' DJs to play some vintage ska. Provisional sets will be Rock, EBM, Ska, Guilty Pleasures and a mixed set to finish.
Also we have traders present at our events and an official photographer who will have a portrait booth set up for you (see website for details).

If practicable, we too will be going regular in 2009 - but every 2-3 months though, and we will endeavour to avoid Salon Rouge's dates, even though they were not considerate enough to extend the same courtesy to us.
Cheaper than the Junction, free parking (so you don't have to scrape your car bodywork along the walls of the NCP multi-storey rip-off car park next to The Junction), and screened changing facilities (so you don't have to walk past the chavs in Cineworld / queueing for Junction 1 in your burlesque gear...)
Dress code is compulsory and doors close at midnight, so you don't have to endure leering men in jeans and t-shirts / late night drinkers.
Eddie - I did email you to get your address to send you some guest passes and a pre-party invite for the 13th Dec but you didn't bother replying. Good luck anyway - see you on the 20th!

Dire is definately the word although it does have many redeeming features and if the general population were wiped out by an act of god then itwould be much better as its actually ok!
Ahhhhhh Bedford, I miss thee already!
In fact I may dare to say that i love the shire a little bit!

Sad isnt it!
lol! It's so silly but i have had so many good times there it suddenly seems so much more beautiful!
I worked in thorntons in town for a while and HATED it and all the people, especially old people who used to shout and throw fudge at me and all sorts...
My mu has a theory that the vast majority of the population are inbred...
after working in thorntons i am inclined to agree, either they are inbred or there is something dodgy in the water!
I am going back in two days! Is it sad that i am exited?

Old adage:
Bedfordshire born
Bedfordhire bred
Strong in the arm
Thick in the head

That's brilliant!
An ex of mine (who was very snobby about the town he lived in) used to say that my hometown was made up of inbreds and mutants.
He now lives in the worst town in the area... :lol:Snowflakes and Sparkles

I'm a Bucks girl and adore going back to visit my friends and parents and having a mooch around the 'new' Ikea then riffling through the many charity shops of Bletchley et al!
It seems like MK is one of the few burlesque virgin cities. I wouldn't have the first clue where to start organising an event...surely some enterprising individual should take the bull by the horns and bring Burlesque to Bucks!?
