Gaelle? There are TWO ladies in the MoB that I know of who were on the verge of comitting suicide due to their size and other problems until they discovered the MoB and everything it stands for in the female world.
Those ladies, after many, many months of fighting with themselves and with other people who kept trying to pull them down are now well on their way to being top notch Burlesque dancer/Performers.
Burlesque has actually done what the NHS shrinks could never achieve with them. I have sat here night in and night out watching as one of these ladies cried her eyes out at the world and with total and utter frustration with the world and how the company of "They" viewed her. Burlesque saved their lives, Burlesque got them to stand up for themselves, the Burlesque world has NO doors hell, even me in my Femme persona of Michelle Moi Belle has a place in the Burlesque world. I hope this post is coming over in the way I want it to come over.
So, perhaps Burlesque IS for those ladies who are "corpulant", perhaps, maybe? Also, one must remember that Burlesque in it's truest form is to portray an utter parody of "something" so, the larger lady is perhaps more able to do this "Parody".
BUT, to temper what I have been typing I must say this, I have watched men and woman, when I was playing in a group in Scotland, who were bloody aweful at dancing/moving on stage and no one would watch/listen to them.
As for your comment about never being a "runaway model" at five foot one inch, as a photographer, and I am quite sure Deb from Tip Top Photography will agree with me, thats a load of rubbish
I have a model on my books who is UNDER 5 foot and she is always in demand

Like I said. I'm only stating my own opinion. I do not mean to put down anyone's hard work.
Would you mind showing me a video of one of these incredible ladies? I admit to turning off any youtube video that has a larger lady performing .
I can admit that I'm wrong if I like it. I promise I'll go into it with a totally open mind.

Can I just add.....in my previous post I said I will watch this thread with my Moderator hat on..... i'd just like to explain that I watch ALL threads with my moderator hat on.... its what I am here to do along with the other mods.
Its great to share opinions, reading diverse threads is fab.....at the moment, there is nothing wrong with this thread - its people sharing opinions between themselves.Deb

Does anyone know what size Immodesty is? I hope this won't offend her or anyone else asking this. Sadly i have never seen her live, and i know the camera adds 10lbs but i think she looks about a size 12/14 (i hasten to add i am crap at those guess my weight/size/age games). I know that a size 14 is by no means large, i am 14-16 and she gave me the confidence to get up and there and do it. She just captivates the audience and Marilyn Monroe, argueably the most gorgeous woman on the planet, was a size 16.

One of the reasons why I enjoy the threads on the MOB is that the vast majority of people on here are very open minded and supportive. Another is that there are often very interesting debates. If you take a browse through the threads on here, familiarise yourself with 'hot' topics of conversation, you will see that size and body image regularly crops up; and is often mentioned alongside issues such as self esteem, and body confidence. Whilst I respect that everyone should be able to air their opinions, I do think there are certain situations where if you don't have anything nice or positive to say, then... (ducks to avoid flying objects)... don't say it all.
The MOB has really shown me that size and shape has no bearing on sexiness, personality and talent - all of which are tied in with burlesque . In the past I've seen larger ladies walking around scantily clad and have thought 'put it away'!, but I've also looked at slimmer gals and wanted to cover my eyes. If something is too skimpy or not very flattering, it doesn't matter what size the woman is. But with burlesque , I'd happily watch a confident, sassy performer of any size or shape. If I'm looking at a performer, I look at how they move, their facial expressions, the structure of their routine. It makes me a little sad to think that some people can't look beyond appearance. In fact, I'd argue that a lot of burlesque outfits suit curvier lasses, curves look good in corsets!
So, Dante (couldn't work out how to do the accent, sorry my lovely!), go for it! You look beautiful in your profile pic, I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Any questions you have along the way, don't hesitate to ask - as I'm sure you'll have gathered already, the MOB lot are fab. And Gaelle, maybe have a look at the other threads regarding size etc on here? I'm sure everyone knows that being overweight may have on their health. But it seems to me that you could do with looking at other posts, to see how much of an affect size can have on a persons' confidence.
But anyway, thats just my opinion...

I gotta say it again.
I see a big difference between being a curvy lady (I AM a curvy lady. My measurements are in one of my topics) and being a "fat" lady.
