One of the reasons I joined this forum was because of its ability to share opinions without managing to upset people.
I am going to step away from the pc..go and eat some very fattening dairy milk chocolate whilst I think about a reply to your post.

Ha, thanks for your tolerance.
Well, I believe in being a healthy person. Not underweight and not overweight! I think it's great when people take pride in their body, but...if they're fat, because they were too lazy to exercise and cut back on the food. What's they're to be proud of?

I enjoy watching performers of ALL different shapes and sizes. If the performance is good you don't notice someones size. Also watching videos on youtube is very different to seeing a live performance.
I don't think there IS an ideal size for burlesque . I've seen some stunningly pretty girls perform who have perfect, amazing figures but have dull routines that just haven't been that interesting to watch. Likewise I've seen performers at either end of the size spectrum perform unexpectedly fantastic routines that have been BRILLIANT!!

I'm not saying they can't be brilliant (nor am I saying that women with perfect figures always do a great job), I just know that I personally will not be focusing on what she's doing.
Burlesque does focus on the way a person look after all. Many may deny that, but if that wasn't true we could go on stage wearing trash bags.

I think that someone who can only see a person for their outer skin is missing out on an awful lot.
Just because someone enjoys their food and is a little exercise shy does not mean that they have nothing to be proud of.
I can think on countless people who are not 'the perfect weight' who are amazing achievers:
Dawn French
Winston Churchill
Luciano Pavarotti
Jack Black
John Travolta
John Goodman
Kirstie Alley
Elvis
to name but a few.....and thats not even mentioning any of our amazing plus size burlesque performers that grace this forum
And then there is me.....Deb..... I am overweight, do very little exercise but have so much to be proud of!!!!!Deb

Well, I am not going to have a go at you for your opinion due to your opinion being your opinion but, might I ask you to consider some things please? THYROID PROBLEMS. My ex partner Krysia had the most aweful Thyroid trouble and she could never get below 16 stone because of it. Several of the ladies in the MoB have got the most horrendous problems with self awerness, self consiousness, diabetic problems etc and so forth. So, maybe some of the ladies who do Burlesque who have "Let Themselves Go To Waste" might not have been able to help them selves until discovering the MoB? I am quite sure some of the ladies I have in mind might PM you on this or maybe tell all in an open post. I do, however, agree with you that some ladies AND gentlemen are rather more corpulent than they really should be and do nothing about it due to laziness. Oh, and a hearty welcome to the MoB my dear, tis nice to "see" another new face as it were

You do indeed Debs xxx
Also, if there was no interest in bigger performers then WHY do so many get work??? If everyone thought that bigger performers were offensive then there would be no demand for them and if there was no demand then there would be no need for bigger performers.
I think the fact that there ARE so many larger performers in burlesque PROVES that there is a demand. Also, why should everyone feel as though they HAVE to conform to an ideal that is unrealistic and unachievable for some and will only cause sadness as they feel unattractive or unwanted.
Like the vast majority I'm happy to see performers from size 6 - 26 perform burlesque . If a show was full of girls with ideal figures it wouldn't be half as interesting.
Variety is the spice of life.

Thanks for the nice welcome.
I definitely see what you mean and I'm not trying to say that people with those kinds of problems are simply too lazy, since that's definitely not true! If they have that kind of self-confidence, cheers to them, but in my opinion, I have to say that I do not enjoy watching it.
BUT I just believe that burlesque isn't really for them. I'm 5 foot 1, I'll never be a runway model!
