    Question Newbee me...

    Hey all
I am extreamly interested in learning the art of Burlesque . I was wondering if anyone out their could help me and give me any tips.
I have been interested in this type of dance for such a long time but never had the confidence to go out and find out about it until now.

I am a performer / dancer by trade, but obviously this is totally different to anything i have ever experienced, so want to learn everything i can.

Id love to hear from you guys........

Love and sweetstuff being sent to all of you xxx

    Greetings Angel!

Just a quick warning this site is super addictive, but so full of great people.

Just have a quick scroll through some of the topics, and you will find a wealth of information. You can even search the topics for specific subjects such as hair, makeup, fashion, props, pretty much anything.

    xx

There are lots of classes and workshops around the UK, which might help.

I also watched youtube and yeoh to see what others were doing and get insiration, you soon get to see what you do and don't like and find your style to work on.

The MoB dvd is great, there are lots of hints and tips on there, my favourite bit at the moment is the tassle twirling, i was surprised at how many people do it 'wrong'.

You can also check out local pubs and clubs which often have live performances or gigs.

It's great fun, and you will make so many friends.

Was out for the Battle of Burlesque game on facebook though, it is highly addicitive.

    Best of luck.

    Hello you! Welcome aboard

I reckon the best thing to do, seeing as you already have experience as a dancer is to try and get along to as many shows as you can and watch what different performers do and decide what sort of style of burlesque you'd like to perform. Youtube and Veoh are fantastic resources too - loads and loads of burlesque performance videos and showreels on there you can watch to get ideas and inspiration.

You can find shows in your area by either using the EVENTS tab in the top red menu bar at the top of this page, or by having a look at the shows being talked about/announced in the Regional Scene Forums - from the right hand side floaty menu....or another great place to look is www.shakeitdoll.com

Oh and there's tons of info in the Learning threads (again via the right hand side floaty menu) where loads of others starting out (including myself) have asked loads of questions and benefited from others advice/experience

    Good luck
