Possible injury - knee
I'm not sure what to make of this - but after a very long recent car journey (my parents were helping me move) in a cramped space with a heavy load on my knees, my right knee now seems unusually weak. If I land heavily, it hurts a bit, and it also feels like I've put too much of a strain on it if I just sit cross-legged.
This problem was bothering me about a year ago - I did see a chiropractic about this and was told to do exercises to strengthen my "quadricepts" - however the problem went away for a LONG time after that.
Before trying them again/seeing a doctor, I thought I'd check to see if anyone here had any experience with dance injuries and could suggest what the problem was and what I should do?

See a phisio! I injured my knee skiing earlier this year. Was on crutches for 6 weeks! The phisio gave me excercises to do which really helped.

I live in London and the one on site cost £40 per visit so not cheap.... but at the end of the day it worth it if it helps stop it getting worse!

I had an awful lot of trouble with my knees growing up, essentially the penance one has to pay for being tall. I recall being given a series of exercises to carry out for myself by the physio, who I think i only saw about 3 or 4 times myself. Every now and again I encounter relapses of pain, but what I have since discovered that a lot of my problems stem from my having flat feet. I don't know anything about your feet, but would heartily recommend your alternating your footwear regularly, and spending some time with some comfortable footwear which gives you good support, eg. Trainers with a good arch in the insole.
A lady's footwear is renowned for excelling in form over function, so sacrificing your heels every now and again will greatly reduce the level of impact on your knees when walking. It helps big time! And it's an excuse to go shoe shopping!

I'm a physio- pm me if you want advice.
Physio rather than a chiropractor would be better in this instance.
Where do you live? certainly you can go via your GP for NHS referral, the differences between NHS and private are nil with regards to training, so don't think that because it is a private physio, they are better, that said, the waiting list for NHS physio may be huge, so if it's something that can't wait then private is the way to go.
Private will most likely try treatments to keep you on as long as possible, whereas NHS are conscious of wating lists and want you out the door asap (although with both, this is not always the case)
Private will cost you about £40, but you will get a longer treatment session, NHS is obviously free, but most likely within work hours for a shorter time.
NHS waiting times vary depending on the clinic, and some place you can self refer into without going via gp.
it is always a good idea to pop a referal in, and if you need private physio during the wait even for a one off session, at least you've started the ball rolling.
The crossed leg part could be a meniscal or ligament injury, and the sitting for a long period could mean patellofemoral pain, all of which would need a proper assessment, but certainly specific quads strengthening exercises would probably be the way to go.
As i said, pm me and i can give some advice.

If it feels like you have been sitting cross-legged for too long and the knee feels weak and 'loose' then it is quite likely you have overstretched a ligament by sitting in an odd position. However never trust a diagnosis over the interweb and go see your GP - many GP practices these days have an attached physio so they may be able to get you seen much more quickly than a hospital referral. In the meantime try not too stress it too much - you'll miss your knees if they go!
