I am John AKA Michelle, male to female Crosdresser. We have a monthly meeting in a local pub in Bournemouth where we CD's and our wifes etc meetup and discuss various things about CDing etc. One item that cropped up was a "Themed" evening, I said "BURLESQUE!" as I am rather into watching Burlesque, now all eyes are rather firmly fixed on poor lickle moi right now! Is there any CD's or TS's in the country who are Burlesquers? Is that part of the scene filled as it were, how easy would it be for a 5 foot seven, mildly hairy and slightly rotund Scotsman to learn the art of Burlesque?

IS there any kind Lady or Gentleman out there who wouldn't mind corrosponding with Louise (my wife) and I on the subject?

Is there any Burlesquer in the Dorset area who might help at all?

I must admit that I have no idea where to start, how to forwards, what to do, I only know that I have a "feeling" that, if one CD does it down here then more will follow.

Also, is there a list of Burlesque names, like when one goes to be a Magician and uses a stage name, one can go to Equity and check the name out?

In case you are asking your selfs. A couple of us have kindova chosen the names "Candy Tuft" or Candy Stripes" for me......................Sigh......

I'm not sure about any cross dressers in burlesque though there is an all male burlesque troop called Bearlesque and they are pretty round and hairy so there certainly wouldn't be a problem with that aspect.

If it turns out that there aren't any why not be the first? Search the fora, particularly the "Learning burlesque" section for tips on getting started and ideas for performances etc. I'm sure it would be a great addition to the scene.

As for names, the best way to find out really is to search all the main search engines- google, yahoo, msn etc. Type in the name you fancy followed by burlesque. Remember to try myspace too. Make sure you check all possible spellings too. For example, if you fancied the name Candy as a part of it try searching Kandy, Kandi, Candi etc. There is even a Khandie on here so there are many many variations of spelling. Sometimes a name will slip under the radar. If this is the case, misunderstandings are very easily cleared up with a change of name, so don't worry too much about that.

I assure you people will love you just the way you are I think it would be fantastic to see a cross dresser perform. I'm sure you would get a lot of interest. Would you perform as Michelle?

Michelle, I don't think you are the only trans person around here, I've just joined, but have been getting more interesting in the Burlesque scene after visits to the Magic Theatre nights in London and seeing the performances.

Actual performance may be a non starter for me, but I really do like the images and clothes and photography is becoming a small obsession, I do try to capture the performances I get to see, e.g.

What I meant was would you be performing as a woman? In the way a woman would perform burlesque. Or will you use cross dressing as the basis for performance? I'm not sure how much sense that makes. I know what I'm trying to say but can't articulate it...

Basically will you be performing as a woman or as a cross dresser? Does that make sense?

Hello Helena. Actually, I am not transsesxual, just a guy who loves to Crossdress and who helps other guys do the same. Other than watching Burlesque this is the first time I have ever thought of actually doing anything about it. We shall see what happens as I wander along the road to my first dance:-)
