Basically will you be performing as a woman or as a cross dresser? Does that make sense?

Ok, now I understand where you are coming from. Yes, most of us CD's try to be as femme as possible not "Drag Queen". So, I would be learning to move as Femme as possible. I would hope the audience/friends would realise that I was not going to suddenly change into a bloke instead of Tasseling! I have been watching Betty Page this past few days on U Tube and I like the small movements she made in the fifties.
If more CD's want to ave a Burlesque theme at the meeting I will get the Burlesque for beginners video from Kittie Klaw, another Scot I have just found out!
The other thing that has kindova hit me is that most of them only "see" a strip show when I say Burlesque, they have no idea what Burlesque is about, I would like to change that.
I know I have a loooooong and maybe rocky road in front of me but, maybe it will be worth it.
And thank you for all your interest, it is really sweet of you to help me.
John Or Michelle, whatever you prefer.

Don't worry about staying on-topic! It rarely happens here, most threads seem to veer off on all sorts of strange tangents!
I'd be very interested to see where you go with performing as a cross dresser. I have a couple of routines that end with me in women's clothing but it's done very much in a comical way. It would be really interesting to see you do it in a more consciously feminine way. I think there could really be an audience for it if done well. Good luck and welcome to the forum! I hope you will like it here.

That, for me, is the most interesting part. The fact that you are "becoming" a woman in the way an actor "becomes" a character. Rather than, as you said, a drag queen, being very much the "I'm a man dressed as a woman" act. Of course, drag queens are fantastic and I really appreciate what they do, I just feel it is really refreshing to have a different take on it.
As Dashwood said, I really think there will be an audience for it. I for one would love to see you perform if and when you get on stage.
Everyone on here will be more than happy to help you out with any problems you encounter or offer support etc, so it may be a long rocky road but it will be so worth it!

Thank you Sir for your kind words of welcome. Yes, I love it here, there is so much to learn and look at never mind the friendlyness of the Burlesquers themselfs.
It is going to be a bit of a struggle to be as Femme as those beautiful lovelies out there who are already doing Burlesque but, I will do my best. When I have got as good as I can I will do a show in Bournemouth where we hold our monthly CD meets, see how things go then do another where you are all invited, well, those who can attend and actually get in as it is a rather small pub!

Hi, one thing you need to do is not be a mediocre copy of anyone else out there, but be a first rate version of yourself! (I know that's nicked from someone famous but I can't remember who). You'll be great and if you can get yourself along to a burlesque class I'm sure you will have great fun developing your femininity - I bet any money you walk in heels miles better than loads of us born female.
I went to a one day burlesque course run by Scarlet Fever and there was either a trans or cd there (I didn't ask which because I didn't think it was relevant). 'She' was totally accepted by the rest of the class and I don't think anyone gave her a second look. And she was way better than the rest of us in heels.
I've found the burlesque community very accepting of all different sizes, shapes, genders, ages etc and I'm sure if you (and your wife if you wanted some fun together) went to a class you'd be welcomed with open arms. The same with performing.
My husband is a CD too, and the 'big pig' looks better in my corset than I do I'm only jealous. We used to find it difficult to find nice dresses for him with long sleeves but he has quite a few sets of gorgeous opera gloves now.
I'm trying to rack my brain if I know of any CD male to female burlesque performers - I might have to have a look through my myspace friends. I know of a few trans and lots of drag and also quite a few boylesquers, but not sure I can think of any of the former. But I'll do some research.
In the meantime - welcome!!
