Default Workshop - Explore Belly Dance and Burlesque

Hi kiddies!

I've got a new workshop... so wanted to share...

Please join me for a fun, new workshop before the Shimmy Shake show on Sunday the 6th of July 4.00 - 5.30pm.

An Exploration of Belly Dance & Burlesque

- Learn about the history and cross-over of both styles
(Little Egypt & the birth of hoochy coochy)
- Learn dance technique and movements and see how they are applied to both styles
- Discover the craft of dancing with props from both styles of dance
- Learn techniques for engaging an audience
- Discover your stage persona and alter-ego to help you perform without limits
- Make-up & costume tips and tricks - unleash your inner showgirl!

This is an introductory course that is suitable for students at beginner and intermedia level or more advanced students who want to learn about the theatrical elements of performance.

Please visit the website to book your place. (Please note the price is £35 plus £1 booking fee and includes the workshop & show)

**This is a fundraising event for London's homeless and Crisis UK**

I really want to go to this, but I'm a little unsure about going alone because I'm not familiar with London and I'd have to get the train back home after the show. Is anyone else in a similar position?

Where are you coming from, sweetie? The show finishes at 10pm sharp as the venue has a DJ with a residency, you can either stay on a boogie or head off.

Bucks-way. If it finishes at 10 that should be ok, and I saw there are trains running most of the night too so it's not as much of a problem as I initially thought. Just a case of finding my way around which I'm sure I'll cope with. Thanks. Can't wait!

Yay! Can't wait either. You'll be fine getting home, lots of people around after the show so you can jump on a tube safely.

This sounds great but I'm booked on the 6th July. Do you have plans to run further workshops? And for someone with a bit of experience in both Bellydance and Burlesque would that be Intermediate?

Hi, I will be doing some more workshops but the 6th of July is booked in so far. If you want to email me on miss_sapphira@yahoo.com I'd be happy to add to the student mailing list so you get kept up to date.

The class will be good for beginner and intermediate students because I am structuring it in that way.

Do you do belly dancing classes?

Yes, I could have sworn I'd asked if you know my teacher in this thread but it must be in a different one. Or maybe I'm going mad! My teacher Galit Mersand mentioned that she has a friend in London who does a blend of bellydance and burlesque and I thought it would be typical small world if it happened to be you.

I'll email you about further classes. Thanks!

Hey, don't worry about going mad. Join the club!

I don't think I know your teacher. Is she London based? Do you have a website for her?

Haha! Yes I think I've resigned myself to my fate of slowly going bonkers.

Galit Mersand - belly dance She is brighton based and only does Bellydance, not Burlesque.
