Can you really shimmy?

The shimmy is hard to master and adds a real flair and show of prowess in a burlesque routine. Can you do it?

If not! Here's an idea... come to my Shimmy Shake Burlesque workshop.

I am holding an introductory burlesque workshop before the Shimmy Shake show in the amazing Madame Jojo's venue on Sunday 11th of May.

Cool huh? Maybe some burlesque spirits of yesteryear will help us along!!

Oh I can shimmy, Sapphira! Being a bellydancer, shimmying is one of the bread and butter moves in bellydancing. I LOVE shimmying, especially in drum solos! I'd love to chat to you more about it Sapphira if you like to?

Can I really shimmy? sadly not, despite the bellydancing lessons, I could never get my shoulders to move quick enough. :-(

I can full body shimmy but not just my shoulders. Oh well lots more practise i guess.

I find the shoulder shimmy quite tricky and I worry about my bingo wings flapping.

Violet - when I first learnt to shimmy I did it with my hands against a wall, it really helped me get the idea of which muscles I had to move.
