Default Polestar?

Has anyone gone on a polestar burlesque beginners course? The blurb talks about learning to: erotic dance, floor work, table dance, lap dance and striptease.

Tbh, it seems a little............ lap dancing? Have i just missed that section at other burlesque nights?

A friend suggested it but am not to sure. (Although it is local which is a huge plus compared to getting up to London and back)

Basically, am i being too judgemental over something selling itself as £100 course covering burlesque basics? Or does it sound to anyone else like an attempt to jump on the burlesque bandwagon?

[In the interest of full disclosure. I'm in a pretty grumpy mood so I could probably find fault with mr Depp if he was here right now]

Hi honey
not heard of them sorry but i think there are a few threads on here about checking out a teachers background how much performance they have done, how much of it is burlesque. That sort of thing. There are some really dodgy people out there you have to be careful.
Good
luck

I thought that about their adverts as well, darl', but I don't know anyone who's ever been on one of their courses. Have you bought the DVD from this site? I've got that and it's very good for showing you a few bits and pieces.

Strangely we have sold an awful lot of DVDs to people who seem to be offering burlesque tuition - and in many cases charging a lot more than MoB. Obviously I'm not going to mention any names, but what Diva says is 100% correct. Check the background and qualifications of tutors and make sure that they have insurance too!

Lol, today I'm in a better mood but you can have Depp if I can have Perttu Kivilaakso ;-)

I've got two of the burlesque dvds from here (a mix up but a good one :-) )

It was just one of those moments when you double check what your reading in disbelief.

Speaking of lessons though - are there any dates for the next workshops? (not counting the one on the 22nd)

I attended the burlesque course in cardiff. It was run by a lap dancer who was very good, and we learnt the basic moves, but it was quite raunchy, much more than tease! i have just done my first show and really had to retrain myself from what i was taught!
I t was good fun though and very good for confidence building. they do one off taster sessions so maybe you could try that and see how it feels?
love kitty x

Confidence isn't to much of a problem lol. It's more the details I want to learn more of. Think I'll give it a miss. Hopefully I'll find something soon xxx

i know polestar are very good at pole classes having met some of their teachers but to be honest ive not bumped into any of these teachers on the burlesque circuit so i would recommend finding someone who has recent experience.

Plus £100 is an awful lot of money to make a mistake with, at least the MOB workshops are with Gypsy & Viva who are truly experienced and on the scene.

Have fun

xx

.... and Gypsy and Viva are qualified dance teachers with insurance!!!!

I would avoid polestars as they are basically a pole dancing school and as far as I know there teachers do not have dance qualifications as a friend of mine used to work for them!
