Are they Ostrich.com? I did mine in about 30 the pair I recall! It depends how fast you are at twisting wire and how hard your hands you are...
On the other subject: I think it also depends on what type of Burlesque you perform... Obviously the biggest sources of Burlesque income are in corporate dos and residencies: both of which require a more 'American' approach... Although my most popular act is very female orientated, I would not really be able to perform some of my favourite acts for these unless it's the specific theme.
So if you want to make it your full-time occupation you have to be prepared to compromise, like any other job. Some people just don't want their envelopes to be pushed, and sadly you can't make them

...
Not 100% sure what I'm trying to say, other than that if you're making a commitment to Burlesque as a job, you can't always perform it to your complete artistic satisfaction (though I suppose it depends on your style I suppose!) in front of a fabulous and supportive audience!
Which is also one of my top tips for performers: half of the skill is getting and keeping the audience. Which is very, very hard if they have never seen Burlesque before and they have no idea how to react.
Anyway, rambling... off to get my passport photo done now and dreading it!
