I'm the same, I always have bare feet where possible. Although since starting this thread I've tripped over the brick thats used as a doorstop and trod on a massive splinter that wasn't nice to pull out. I didn't intend to have bare feet in an act in a graceful way, it just seems more freeing and me.

About broken glass on stage- in my experience most stages do...i usually show up early to give it a quick sweep. Just be careful about that.
But dancing in bare feet is fine! There is this one act i do i think looks better in bare feet and its easier, my movements are more slow and fluid, and at one point when im on the ground with my feet in the air i roll backwards into a kneeling position...really hard with heels on!

I think the only problem is you talk about dancing just in torn stockings- this would be rather dangerous, as a lot of stages would be quite slippery i think. Just a thought! Maybe footless stockings... i know it sounds odd, but if you have a sort of raggedy theme going on anyway, it would look ok

Fleur, I don't know if you're still looking for shoes, but karen millen had some beautiful dark pink peep toe heels with an ankle strap, 1in platform on the toe and fabric roses at the front. They're really high and glam, but they're last season so you'll probably have to get them from an outlet store. The good news is that when I got mine they were reduced to £35 from £120!!!! They had other colours but I can't remember if they had red. I guess you could always stain the fabric red.

Thanks for letting me know Tabitha, I've had a quick google and found the ones you mean in blue, purple and pink, but no red. Unfortunately even on eBay i can't really afford the ones I've seen, the fabric looks like silk and I wouldn't dare try dying it for the right colour, and the style isn't quite right for the routine I'm afraid. But thanks for the advice anyway ^_^
