I haven't taken any burlesque classes. Then again, I'm just starting out myself to be completely honest. I'm not a great dancer, so I focus more on the tease, tease, tease. My routines are just starting to take shape! I don't think classes on burlesque are needed at all, talking to your fellows is probably the best way for you to build up some ground advice. Other than that, research into dance and theatrics and costume yourself and build your own brand of Burlesque is what I say ^___^ Go for it, any way you want it!

No I don't imagine lessons are entirely necessary but the ones I have done so far are brilliantly good fun, and I'm finding it helps to be learning from someone who has spent their whole life dancing and knows what she is talking about and can genuinely tell if i'm doing ok at it. I don't think it makes you any less individual to learn in classes compared to teaching yourself, I go home with the knowledge gained through my lessons and the research i'm doing along side it and try my own ideas out so it's really just helping me along and it's very enjoyable, we have a great laugh.

its not that i think girls that go to classes are any less original its just that if i personally went to one i'd just copy. i need my own spark of inspiration first i thinkwhere others work the other way around.
