Getting started?!

Hello all,

I have been wanting to ventrue into burlesque for a long time but just don't know where or how to get started! I have been stripping/pole/lap dancing for four years and was a magicians assistant for two years prior to that.

I am based in Huddersfield (West Yorkshire) so Leeds/ Manchester would be do-able for classes.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

hey lovely...
i just did a workshop with a lovely lady called Bella Besame who is based in manchester as far as i know. you should have a look on her myspace as i think she does classes in manchester. She is really nice and will teach you all the right moves to get you started.

MoB is running classes in Manchester on 9th September, 14th October and 25th November. Check out the following link Ministry Of Burlesque Academy - Burlesque Lessons, Classes and Workshops » Burlesque For Beginners - what's more the teachers are fully qualified and insured and have been teaching for years.

do you know if you will be running any in newcastle in the future?

oh awesome, another yorkshire lass! (I'm from Leeds, though sadly in Denmark until Christmas).

Give me a PM or friend me, sweetie, it would be great to get to know another burlesque beginner (I'm developing some acts atm) and wannabee superstar

Hi! I'm in Leeds too! There's a distinct lack of burlesquiness round here! Everything seems to be in Manchester! Good to see some more people getting in to it! Hopefully the trend will catch on round here!

CrimbleFairy are you going to the carnival Divine in Manchester next weekend? I am going and can't wait as it's the first live burlesque event I have even been to. Is gonna be fabulous! Wish there was more going on in the Leeds area though!
