Dont forget, you could always travel to attend a burlesque class - even if it is just the one! You could make a weekend of it a visit a friend or something?

Dance wherever you can - get on a podium/stage in a night club and shake your thang, it's a little less intimidating than doing a solo performance in front of an expectant audience. Maybe create some videos and upload them on YouTube or some other video-sharing website? You could post them on forums like these and ask for constructive criticism.

I prefer to start creating a new act with a good piece of music. If a song can hold my attention, I know it will also offer some support for holding the audience's attention while I'm on stage. From the music I pick a theme/story/narrative for my act, before selecting a costume and finally choreographing the act. I'll then try and perform it in front of friends or at a familiar venue to see how it works in front of an audience, then tweak it if necessary.
Good luck!!! x
