@ tempest devyne
I just found my new pole hero! Thanks for the video!! Yeah, you're right about the troupe. The more I think about it, the more I see that they all are going in one direction, and I have been working towards the other direction. I talked to the pole studio owner about her just having shows there, since all the women in my troupe go to the same pole studio, might as well keep it all "in-house" so to speak. I did not really want the troupe to be all students/teachers of the same studio, but it did. I was hoping for more of a variety. My husband says to just do the troupe as is, and just consider everyone as filler. I dont want a whole show of filler though, and I feel bad promoting it as a burlesque show when its really not, when the performers are not interacting with the audience or teasing or anything. Im uncomfortable and I do need to go my own way. Hopefully, they all can do their shows, and I can go out with my stage pole. I was hoping to go out as a troupe to be honest...but with everyone else on their own paths, and me trying to do the burlesque scene, its not going to be that way. You're right, Im not cheating them or anything. but I do regret that I started it, because everyone is telling me I should have asked more questions before hand. Like asking them about truly being interested in burlesque and the scene as well as pole. I was shocked to find a group of women who dont like burlesque/dont get it. I thought everyone got it...but I run in different circles. And I like drunk opinions, they are usually correct and blunt, which is what I need!!

And as far as pole dancing in general....its hard.
Many times people think they can just walk up to the pole and do what they want. First you need to be able to lift your body weight and that takes time. Another first thing to work on is your hand grip. When learning things, I think that its good to be a little scared, because it will make you fight harder to not fall. Some women are fearless and just fall and they hurt themselves. Also, a whole lot of people are turned off of pole dancing because of the pain. There is pain involved, pole friction burning, bruises, sore muscles, aches. Some people i know dont want to pole dance just because of the bruises. Everyone bruises, everyone gets sore. It hurts and its hard. I dont mind getting bruised, because it means that soon I will never bruise there again. I dont mind being sore because it means that my muscles are getting stronger. Pole dancing is not for everyone. Its very intensive and painful and at times scary. When done right it can be beautiful, but getting to that point is a lot of work.

Hi honey
Just an idea, but if you decide to keep on with the troupe & shows, why not bring in some burlesque performers as guest stars? That way you'd not feel as if you stand out so much and it might inspire some of the others in the troupe to explore a bit more. x

Hey there. We should talk...i think our styles will click well together. I am passionate about both the pole and burlesque as an artform and im always thinking of creative ways to bring both to life. After attending NY school of burlesque and Ms Exotic World Vegas, I debuted my first burlesque act last month.
My start was in gogo and stripping for two years. I loved gogo and the pole...but missed the passion and creative side that i could not explore in the club while stripping. Im in Philadelphia, not too far at all. I have never been to a show in Baltimore, but i have seen Trixie and the evil hate monkey perform in my city. Amazing! I have also checked out palace of Wonders in DC, love that venue as well. Ever been? Anyway, i would love to chat more with you. We seem to be on the same page... as well as have the same level of experiance... and the willingness to learn more to further our development. As for your question, you should just tell them your taking time to explore other aspects of the craft. You tried to give them the chance to work with your vision..thats all you can do. If they are serious performers, they will get their own pole and start booking their own shows....so dont worry about leaving them without bookings or props. |
