Where do you rehearse?
I've run out of space to practise anything at home. Can just about hoop in the spare room but still hit the furniture. Wondered where you all rehearse, do you hire out spaces?
Would any newbies want to get together and share the cost of a dance studio now and then?

Your posts do not reveal your location my dear. I will ask before anyone else comes along thinking the same - "Where are you based?"
Good luck finding somewhere.

I have hired a studio in the past. It was really helpful what with the mirrors and also there wasn't that temptation to sit down and watch the TV/ have something to eat etc. so I found I got a lot more done.

Hi there!
I'm currently wading through vast numbers of studios in central London in an attempt to find somewhere to do some contemporary dance - are you looking for somewhere near home, or is anywhere in London ok?
Here's a few starters:
Pineapple
Danceworks (the well known ones, but actually not hugely more expensive than other places)
The Drill Hall (Tottenham Court Road)
Jerwood Foundation Space (Borough)
The Basement Dance Studio
The Place
The Attic
The Dance Factory
Also, I think I can't post links yet due to newbieness, but if you look at
London Dance dot com, Directory, Space Xchange, there's a pretty comprehensive list on there of studios that are hireable.
And I'd be up for sharing a studio occasionally - but not til the end of the month coz I am moving house!

I know local churches and some schools hire out their halls - perhaps cheaper? Not sure though as they would have to pay someone to stay late to close up.

I usually start rehearsing small moves in front of my bedroom mirror, then put routines together in my front room. After advice from Diva Hollywood , I video everything so I can spot odd little ad-libs I want to make permanent etc and see what the audience will be watching.
But then when I'm happy with a routine I hire our local village hall (well when I lived in Shropshire) for a day as they had a stage and videoed me doing the routine over and over. Because our village hall doesn't get much use they let me have it for a tenner for a day, and it's always been money well spent.
I'm blooming lucky to have much larger rooms over here in the States so luckily I don't have to find a village hall equivalent. The Russian Doll Lass - like Shrek's onion, but with sequins...

I reherse in my bedroom/living room. I film it once I'm happy with what I've got down so I can see what looks good or not as good as I hoped. Then I carry on practicing filming it each time, watch it and drink water, rinse repeat.
Whilst Performing at Fabulous Stunners christmas party we were given a dance studio as a changing room. It was quite interesting to practice infront of a wall of mirrors. But unfortunately most of the time was spent swinging drunkinly on a trapeze or playing on the pole. So if I were to rent a dance space it would have to not contain such things.
