Thread: First Birthday Bash at Dr Sketchy's Brum - 21.11.09

It was indeed a fantastic night, here's to 6 more in 2010!

Dr Sketchy's Birthday event was a totally chilled and very lovely event with a pleasing turn out and some lovely surprise visits from Amelie Soleil , Vendetta Vain and Coco Malone. And of course Amelie will be performing for us alongside Red Sarah , Crimson Skye, Cherryfox and Fanny Divine for our 'Victoriana' show on January 16th 2010.

A special thanks to Saff who turned up extra early for Jacob and I to decorate the room and help get things organised which is always a tad bit busy for J and I. As if that wasn't enough Saff came bearing the cutest home baked Dr Sketchy's Brum pink pencil biscuits and some equally scrummy cupcakes resplendent with candy pencils all lovingly fashioned - thanks so much Saff. Delicious!

As for the team - what can I say?

DG and Ditzy ensured the seemingly effortless smooth running of the event. You complement each other perfectly in every way. The audience really appreciated your antics (and a big well done to DG for handling the two Pass the Parcel games with panache and humour) and we were also so pleased to be able to sketch you both at the close of the event.

J did a commendable job on the DJing but most of all I thank him for chivvying me along and supporting me so wholeheartedly.

For those of you who were not aware I lost my dad on Thursday last week. It felt so supportive to have so many folk there I love - and thank you so much for all your kind words and for making me smile.

All the performances were birthday themed; fun, vibrant and fabulous to sketch.

Cherryfox - this lithe and lovely songstress treated us to a special arrangement of Happy Birthday by Altered Images with music by J. Later we had a beautifully delivered rendition of 'Its My Party'. Thanks for the Birthday treat doll - and for being such an important part of Dr Sketchy's Brum! Here is a beautiful drawing of her courtesy of the talented Saff (photograph by me):



Willow Blue - gave us a rather grand and comedic act for the show in a giant pink and blue birthday cake. You were a dream to draw and there were so many great sketches - the boobie complete with cute cupcake pastie sketch was a very worthy winner heehee!



Suzie Sequin - We loved her breathy, sexy take on the Marilyn Monroe 'Happy Birthday'. Suzie was adorable and so lovely to sketch. Suzie was amazing in that she posed for ages with her arm up - how did she do that?

Sherry Trifle - truly scrumptious and a glorious end to a fun event - the cherry on our cake/trifle!! We all enjoyed this act so much. Prize goes to Sherry and Suzie for the most still, composed poses of the year - what troupers! We have some lovely images of Sherry; here is just one below:

it was such a fantastic afternoon, I agree with your comment about sherry and suzie though, such fantastically still poses, I might have done better had someone not sabotaged me with their musical choices! For the artists amongst you though, I shall practise at keeping still I promise!

(No way, as if the picture of me cracking up got its own special title!)
