Default The Fling Festival - Chelmsford (Saturday 4th July)

I'm very excited to reveal the line-up for this event I've been getting my teeth into booking for. Below is the press release:

A Burlesque & Variety Party at The Fling Festival

    6.30 – 7pm
    8.40 – 9.20pm
    10.20 – 11pm

ShakeItDoll.com has called upon the services of an exquisite selection of international artistes to entertain and delight you all. Combining the atmosphere of a laid-back tea party, the humour of a Soho Basement and the talent of the European variety circuit, this promises to be an unusual and unrepeatable event! The show boasts circus performers, comedians, burlesque striptease and music, with characters ranging from elegant and graceful to lewd and rude. Leave your coat at home, put on your best hat and waltz your way over to the Cabaret Tent – this show promises to be an evening spent in cosy, albeit rather strange, company…

    Event Hosts:
Beatrix Von Bourbon (founder of ShakeItDoll.com and professional burlesque performer) & The Decadent Gent (host of the UK’s leading burlesque podcast: Ministry of Burlesque: Tassel Time)
Beatrix Von Bourbon and The Decadent Gent join forces to offer scene veterans and burlesque virgins alike a gentle in-road into the wacky world of burlesque and variety. Beatrix brings playful-humour and high-energy whilst The Decadent Gent offers refinement and intelligent observation: Together they blend like strawberries and champagne.

    Performers:
    Anil Desai
London-based ’stand-up chameleon’, as seen on BBC’s Goodness Gracious Me. He will be making two appearances, with his stomach-achingly hilarious Bollywood-burlesque, Rajesh the Bollywood Lounge Singer, and with his astounding 52 impressions in 5 minutes (and a bit!)

    Mysti Vine
snappy, naughty and most of all, hysterical”
    RemoteGoat.com

She’s been performing her own brand of burlesque for several years, having firmly established herself as a force to be reckoned with on the UK burlesque circuit. Structuring her acts around an intelligent, comic core, she never fails to surprise even the most well-read of burlesque fans. She will perform her notorious V-Stume act and her comedic striptease.

Chrys is superb – enchanting, ethereal, elegant – captivating to watch”
    The Mail on Sunday

Chrys is a London-based, artist, regularly performing internationally in countries far and wide. She creates incredibly glamorous and elegant burlesque striptease, combining playing classical piano with striptease. Watch, listen and be awe-struck.

Vendetta’s gun-totin’ finale certainly hit the mark!”
    The Bluesbunny Independent Music Reviews

Playful, comic burlesque from Scotland. Vendetta offers light-hearted, playful burlesques with snappy and befitting soundtracks. Offering up classic performance styles from the burlesque striptease genre, she will perform her Canary Fan Dance and her Rhinestone Cowboy Balloon Pop.

A sensuous Tango on and two arms”
    Chapiteau.de

An international equilibriste, based in France. Trained from a young age at a dedicated circus school, she will blow your mind with her hidden strengths. Catch her at The Fling performing her captivating and breath-taking, tango-themed hand-balancing act.

    [nomedia]http://http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHn2AtusdQI"][FONT=Arial]Rémi Darbois[/FON[/nomedia]
Fast-emerging Juggling talent from France. He combines the poise and style of an illusionist with the precision and accuracy of an engineer. He will perform his enchanting Flight of the Bumbleball juggling act.

Acrobatic pole dance from Kent. If you thought that pole-dancing was restricted to gentleman’s clubs, think again! This woman performs pole-dance more akin to the circus tradition of Chinese pole than the bump’n'grind strip-club style. With a pinch of humour, a sprinkling of artistic costuming and a dollop of class, this woman will surely take you by surprise.

    British Heart
A quirky, zany male burlesque performer, fresh to the scene and bursting full of wonderful creative energy! Currently studying male burlesque at PhD level, he offers an interesting and unusual perspective to the art form, playing with notions of cultural masculinity and the feminine qualities of striptease. He will perform 2 acts: Suicidal Squid and Prime Heart.

I'm getting excited! I'll be doing a radio interview with BBC Essex on Saturday (27th) morning to discuss burlesque and this show!
