Lol yes I make for a number of Austenites and have a couple coming along to the the regency class this term.

Years ago I tried approaching the Georgian Society and the Jane Austen society for just such an event, but they were very sniffy with me! Hopefully times have changed!

it's become a lot more poular in bath now. I used to do talks down at Chawton on hair, makeup and clothing but they never wanted making days.

Exciting times at Fabrication Towers this month. We have been featured in the April editions of both Sewing World and Sewing Magazine, been blogged about here http://ukhandmade.blogspot.com/2010/02/scene-fabrication.html and will also been in the next editions of Cloth Magazine and that of the travel company Jet2.com.
Please find below the next crop of classes until the end of this term, We are just putting the finishing touches to the next one
April 3rd Vintage Hair and Makeup
1.00pm-5.pm
Join burlesque bombshell Anna Fur Laxis for a vintage hair and makeup session.
The workshop content will be tailored to the ladies who are attending and what they would like to go over, but in the main it will cover how she does her hair and makeup - using hot rollers, hot sticks and curling tongs, putting hair up into several vintage inspired hairstyles including victory rolls, using snoods/scarves/fascinators etc, vintage -inspired makeup, false eyelash application, and tricks and twists for make-up for parties & photo shoots.
April 17th Spring Clean Swap and Alter day
Clear out your wardrobes and bring them down to Fabrication for a big old clothes swap, pick up someone else’s cast offs and then learn how to make them fit you and feel loved again. You will learn how to take up hems, adjust waistbands , stop gaping and other hints and tips
Donate up to 10 garments or accessories, they must be good quality, clean and pressed, and take away the same amount you bring, anything left over will be taken to the local charity shop.
Bring clothes from 10.30, doors open 11.30, alterations 1-4
Refreshments, but not lunch, included.
You can also just come along to either part of the day.

April 18th Wedding Flowers 10.30 - 4.30.
Bridal Bouquet, Corsages, and Buttonholes.
Want to organise the flowers for your wedding but don't know where to start then come along to our big bridal flowers day.
You will learn how to put together a bouquet and get hints and tips on how to treat your chosen flowers.
Also how to make matching buttonholes and corsages for the wedding party
Advice about flowers to bring will be sent to participants in advance.
Cost £35, refreshments and all floral sundries included, but you will need to bring your own flowers.
April 25th Make a Blouse or Shirt 10.30am-5.30pm
The next stage in our learn to sew classes and things are becoming more complicated, with the addition of sleeves and collars
You will learn how to cut a shirt/blouse pattern, apply yokes and patch pockets, inset sleeves, attach collars and add a button front fastening
Please note this is not a beginners class and you will need to know how to use your machine and have experience of sewing seams, cutting fabric and assembling more basic garments such as trousers
Please note all our classes need to be prebooked
cost £40+ materials, please bring your own and a pattern. Refreshments, but not lunch, included
May 15th Make a tailored dress 10.30am-5.30pm
You can now make a skirt and a blouse so today we are putting them both together to make a tailored dress
Using a modern, or vintage pattern, you will learn the techniques to set in sleeves, fully line, fit and finish a smart day dress
Please note this is not a beginners class and you will need to know how to use your machine and have experience of sewing seams, cutting fabric and assembling more basic garments such as trousers and shirts
Please note all our classes need to be prebooked

July at Fabrication
We now stock Cloth magazine, the only place in leeds, so pop in and pick one up when your are passing.
Following the success of the Etsy Crafty Meetup on Friday we have now decided to link in our monthly craft night, which will now be on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, to avoid clashes we now have in-house.
Bring along projects you are working on for a craft and cake night from 6.30pm - 9.00pm, we also have a number of kits and items you can purchase from us at base cost. There will be a charge of £2, less than previously charged for crafty club, to cover refreshments and you will need to prebook by emailing me, so we have an idea of numbers. For July it will be Wednesday 14th.
Crochet Club will also now be on the 1st Wednesday of the month
26th June Vintage Hair and Makeup There are 3 places left on this class
27th June Learn to Sew There is 1 place left on this class
Remake a Vintage Garment
4th July, 1st Sunday in the month for 4 weeks 10.30-4.30
Have you found a beautiful vintage piece which either won’t fit or is too delicate to wear, then come along to our 4 week course and learn how to make a copy, from pattern cutting to final stitch.
You should have knowledge of garment making and using patterns, as this is not a beginners class .
Cost is £35 per session + materials, refreshments, but not lunch, included. book all 4 sessions for £120 saving £20
Learn to sew using your own machine
10th July 10.30am-5.30pm
Have a sewing machine but don't know really how to use it, then come along to our class where you will learn the basics of sewing and what it can do.
Depending on how quickly you pick it up you will leave with a cushion and hints and tips about getting the best from your machine plus basic sewing skills
cost £40 + materials, please bring your own for the cushion. Refreshments, but not lunch, included
Learn to make a skirt using your own machine
10.30-5.30
Have a sewing machine, but haven't got any further than a cushion cover, then come along to our class where you will learn how to make a basic skirt.
You will learn how to cut a pattern, and sew the skirt together, put in a zip and work a button hole
cost £40 + materials, please bring your own and a pattern. Refreshments, but not lunch, included.
You should have already attended our 'How to use your Machine' class or have the basic knowledge of how to thread up and use a straight and zigzag stitch
11th July Fully booked
17th July new date added
Corsages, Rosettes, and Bows
18th July 10.30-4.30
As requested by our students, this is a class to learn how to make finishing touches for your garments and use up all those scraps lying around.
We will make a fabric flower, varying size bows and rosettes, which you can then turn into jewellery or use to trim items you've made
£35 + materials, includes refreshments but not lunch
Advanced Skirt Making using your own machine
July 25th 10.30-5.30
Following on from our basic skirt making class , this one covers, pleats, gores, godets, yokes and other style details
Please note this is not a beginners class and you will need to know how to use your machine and have some basic experience of cutting out, sewing seams, zips etc and making a basic skirt.
Please note all our classes need to be prebooked
cost £40 + materials, please bring your own and a pattern featuring some of the above style details.
Refreshments, but not lunch, included
Open Sewing Day
Saturday 31st July 10.30am-5.30pm
By special request of our members, who have gone through the full sewing course, a chance to brush up those skills, double check the info and have a go at a garment of choice
Still not 100% sure how to make that skirt or blouse now you're at home on your own, or fancy a slightly different style to what you did before, but it looks a bit more complicated, then bring the pattern and fabric along and we'll talk you through it.
This is not a basic class , you should know how to thread and use your machine and have made at least one garment, as well as being at a level suitable for the garment you have chosen. You don't need to have attended our previous classes
Cost is £40 per session + materials refreshments, but not lunch, included
Places are ltd to 4 on this class
