Default Medievil hair piece

Hi, i am trying to find a hair accessory like they had in medievil times. It's a material pouch that goes on the back of the head and holds the hair. I thought it might be called a snood, but all i can find on google is a crochet net or a wierd looking tube that can be worn about 12 different ways.

If anybody knows what i am talking about i would be greatful for a name or website.

Thank you for looking.

Hi Lady B,

Lilly was looking for one of these the other night, and I am reliably informed by Ms de Lure they are called a "French Hood".

Hope that helps. :eyebrows:

If you find someone whos got "the tudor tailor" they have instructions for making and wearing them in there! Like most things of the time, theyre pretty simple- Well done you for going classic!

Just googled it - wow! :excited:

Thank you so much for letting me know about this book - as Iolair mentioned I've been looking for Tudor clothes for an Anne Boleyn routine, but decent, authentic looking ones are incredibly difficult to find (not to mention expensive to buy).

This will be a fantastic help! :twothumbs:

Now - all I need to do is find a copy of the AB pendant she used to wear and I'm all set . . .

Should be quite easy ... I'm sure I read a while back that the costume designers on Ugly Betty designed Betty's B necklace to look like the one in the famous Anne Boleyn portrait. Maybe searching for Ugly Betty merchandise might be a different (unexpected!) path you could try?

If it's historical looking hats/headpieces then look at this website:

Black Historical Hats

If you scroll right down then theres some beautiful medievil/renaissance hats and headpieces.

Some of the hats on this website are delicous, i adore the victorian riding hats!

Default Anne Boleyn B necklace

There's an Anne Boleyn replica B necklace at TheAnneBoleynFiles site for $45, if you haven't already found one. x
