Default Hair dye disaster!

Wondering if anyone can help! I tried to dye my hair a lovely shade of brown...it is now as black as blsck can be! Which I wouldn't mind too much if I hadn't spent a large amount of money having it lightened after having black hair for about 6 years! Bit of a disaster me thinks, does anyone have any handy hints on how to lighten it maybe or wash it out faster??? Thanks! xxx

oh dear, Funnily enough I did something similar this week!
I used to dye my hair black also - but the past few years I opted for a dark brown instead but got so fed up of it washing out too quickly and turning a redish medium brown - that I opted for Black!

It was a shock at first as it has been 3 years since I had black hair! But, it's grown on me - and it's not that bad after all!

But as for yours - I find that my colour seems to fade more quickly when I use hairspray!!

Also, apparently - "Hot oil treatments and dandruff shampoos are known to fade color." though I've not tried it myself!

Hope that helps a bit! - it shouldn't take long to fade xx

I've also heard anti-dandruff shampoos can help.
I had the opposite end of it, I wanted to go blonde and had red hair dye on, so I had the amazing bright idea of using a lightener. Wrong move, I ended up looking like Rod Hull with ginger and white blonde patches all over with ultimate frizz. My lovely hubby went and got me an Ash Brown hair dye and thank goodness it went to a blondy brown and after lots of care it looks fine now.
Good luck, I'm sure it will lighten quickly but don't use lightener the results can be shocking.

wash it often and do it with a dandruff or medicated shampoo, like head and shoulders or neutrogena. it might take a couple of weeks but it will start to lighten.

I hear washing up liquid can help fade colour, but i'm not sure how much it would damage the hair...

Pre-lighteners are meant to be used before putting another colour on, so the colour will originally be horrible!

I had black hair for a bit and when it started to fade, I used a lightner and a light brown hair-dye. It didn't go the colour on the front but it was nice all the same, although when I put the lightner on it was a weird platinum-ginger mixture which was awful, but I was prepared for that to happen so I wasn't fussed.

This is a good one! I went to the hairdresser and asked if my hair would fall out etc and they said it was a good way of doing it, after 3 washes with good old tesco dish wash liquid, it is now very dark brown! It's quite nice, I do like it dark but I have very pale olive skin so I look abit like I have jaundice or something! It's not so bad now lol, thankyou!

I am too scared to use a lightener after the 'patchy' storie I've heard! Might do once it starts to grow out though! xxx
