My problem skin
Hi girls,I have had such awful skin since I was 10 and Im now 21 and Im sick of it!
I am taking oxytetracycline and using adapalene as a topical treatment on my skin.
It has worked to a certain degree but still leaves me with reactive spots, dry patches and uneven skin which is almost impossible to apply makeup to! I am very pale so it looks very obvious, and I hate it so much
Does anyone have any skincare tips or makeup recommendations? I need to find the perfect foundation, concealer and powder,if anyone can help?
I tried mineral foundation and concealer but it just didnt work for me!
Thankyou so much, any advice would be so appreciated!kisses.xxxx

Hi there,
I feel your pain!
I had terrible skin from the age of 11 but only until I was 16, I can only imagine what it must be like to still have it at 21.
I'm afraid, I don't even have any advice to offer you, with regard to make up, as I didn't really wear it at that age. Mine cleared up after about a year of prescription from the doctor, mine was a topical solution for sensitive skin, which I don't remember the name of now. Oh I really am not much use at all, as it was such a long time ago! Do you drink much alcohol? Only, when I drink alcohol, I find it sometimes flares up a bit?! You probably already know this!?
I hope someone can offer you some more useful advice with regard to the makeup.
xx

Hiya
you have my every sympathy.Iv had them since I was in my early teens, Im now 33 and I still get them.
Try antiseptic cream on them after washing your face. Also drying them out helps, so I get some cheap perfume and spray a bit onto my finger and dab that on the spot.
Sorry cant really help with make up but I use max factor foundation and swear by Touche Eclait.

Firstly I think your name is GREAT; knickerdropperglory - how clever!
I also had bad skin in my teens and now in my 30's it still has it's moments!!! All the stuff the doctors precribed for my skin when I was a teen were soooo strong they took the colour off the towels. I eventually ended up with tablets, can't remember the name but I think they were brown. It can be due to hormone imbalance, too much testosterone I think manifests in acne and is very common.
If you are on the pill there is one that is great for your skin (again can't remember the name) and it can be worth going on the pill to clear up your skin in this way. A friendly and sympathetic doctor will steer you in the right direction.
I'm not advocating taking tablets or going on thepill but it worked for me!!!
Also drinking LOADS of water can help too but if your bad skin is a result of a hormone imbalance then this needs to be treated for real results. Be careful with make-up as it can clog your pores and ultimately give you MORE spots.

p.s. I'm not really a pill popping freak but I know how awful bad skin can be and how much it affects every aspect of your life. It was only when mine was under control that I could finally be 'me'.

Have you been to a beautician, my sister is one and says that you can have a skin assessment where they will tell you what you can/can't use, they can give you skincare products and base creams which you can then apply make up to, sort of like a protective layer, I used to have bad skin with excema and rosacea and found Dermalogica products really good, I had the assessment first and my skin has now cleared up, I still can't really wear much makeup but my skin now looks fine without. Hope this helps! xxx

Hi ,
Im on yasmin (contraceptive pill) its one of the best out there tho you may have problems getting doc to prescribe it as it is also one of the most expensive.
I had it as i used to get evil on my last pill. yasmin is known to be better for skin than diannette. You will need to drink more water as it also has something in it to stop water retention. If i dont drink enough i get headaches and feel sickly. On the upside, my breasts grew too hehee
Hope if you try it that it helps with your skin

Uck, I wish people would stop telling others to go on the pill to solve every little problem! Hormones should absolutely be the last resort in any situation, so nasty and unpredictable are they!
