Cunning! I shall mosey on over to Boots at lunchtime and see if I can pick up one of those badboys!

My last attempt yesterday ended with Geoff saying "You look like Lisa Simpson"

I'd always wondered about cutting the doughnut in half but worried it would all unwind or I'd have to sew the ends shut. I shall try that. Though I might have to try using my lipstick too

No no - the mesh very much sticks together until you physically pull it to unwind. And in turn of course, it grips to your hair as you turn, which helps you roll and holds it while you put pins in xx

Fine hair is not the problem - mine is very fine and I can do rolls. You need to use about four grips very tightly (two at the front, two at the back) before you even take the roller out. Then hold the roll in place and use more - as many as you need to to make sure they don't collapse! Then lots of hairspray. Plus bendy rollers are a bit too small - you need something fatter so you can get your fingers inside it. Rolling the hair around two fingers (held slightly apart so you can manoeuvre them back out again) is a good way to start, because you can hold the inside bottom of the roll close to your head and guide the grips in

That's how I do it! I use about 12 grips on my roll.

Oh, she's good! I'm off to get me some rats! Mind you knowing my hair expertise I'm going to end up with some sort of mullet/Flock of Seagulls-type effect.

And for fine hair, backcombing can work wonders!

Yes absolutely - if you back comb before you roll it will help x
