For emergencies and red, angry spots I really like palmer's cocoa butter moisturiser, the one in the green packaging is good (but only at night I find, because the scent is a lot stronger)

It makes your skin softer and seems to make painful spots less inflamed and heal much more quickly. It's pretty cheap too actually, and apparently very good for stretch marks ^-^

There's some pretty good advice on this thread. Diet, hygiene, stress, water, don't overdo the slap, and so on and so on. It might be useful to have an allergy check, allergies are known to trigger acne. And it's always a benefit to know of others that experience the condition. So I hope this helps.

Blitzgrrl, you know your stuff lol

Theres a product available in pharmacies in the UK (but Im sure theres something similar in the States) called Freederm gel which is suitable for mild to moderate acne. It works by helping to reduce redness and inflammation and helps prevent further spots from forming. It contains nicotinamide (a form of vitamin B3) and usually requires daily or twice daily application. It doesnt usually cause any problems but if your skin is quite sensitive it may cause slight drying or redness. It also comes in a cleanser which is antibacterial.....

Or you could try tea tree oil or products containing it as it has natural antibacterial/antifungal properties and will act as an antiseptic. Witch hazel is also great as it has astringent (pore shrinking) properties so a product combining these two would be good.

In additon a general cleansing routine(making sure you wash your hands before you start), drinking plenty of water and refraining from picking/touching your skin as previously mentioned lol should help.

Hope this helps!
Love and cookies Amethyst xx

PS um,I dont work for these companies....

Yup, I was just going to say, I find tea tree and witch hazel products particularly good. I got a tea tree 'wand' from Boots and it's magical! As soon as I felt a spot appear, I put some of the product on and it really helped - if the spot appeared at all, it wasn't too bad.

Hi ,

Iseem to have another kind of problem ...luckily I have combatted my acne with not picking or touching my face and also steaming it with a bowl of hot water and a couple of drops of tea tree.

BUT i am left with some scars which will not fade, i thought about using bio oil but in know this is greasy and am worried it will bring back more spots.

Does anyone have any ideas on getting rid of acne scars?

Thankyou

Lily x

a face mask always does the trick for me, i use Lush - Catastrophe Cosmetic and it really does the trick. smoothes out fine lines, gets rid of redness, spots dissapier within a day or two and scars arent as noticeable.
