Thoughts on make up!
Hi all just gotta a question I wanted an opinion on....... what would you do if you were offer a job but they said you had to tone your make up down? The job is working with people ( general public) but obviously there is a company image they want to keep.
Now the thing is I wear my make up, as in my photos all the time and its how i feel comfortable...its just me! Its who I am. Im just feel its a weird thing to have to change who you are. I suppose i could change the colour of the eye shadow to a lighter colour...am I being silly or should I just say no i wont change it?
I asks some girlfriends and the reponse i have had is just make it bit lighter and wear what you want when not working. I suppose its like the things that you wear at work and weekend are different!!!
arghhhhhh
Thanks xxx

I think it depends on how much you want the job. Did they actually make it a requirement to get the job that you tone it down or was it just passing comment that they would expect it? Will it be like school and there'll be someone on the front door in the mornings with some makeup remover pads not letting you in till you "clean that gunk off your eyes young lady".
I've just had a look at your photos and I although I think you make-up is absolutely gorgeous and you do it very well, I'm assuming that because photos lessen the look of actual makeup (I'm not putting this very well) then your make-up is even bolder in real life than it appears in the pics. So I suppose it is more makeup than most people would wear in an office. But this doesn't make it wrong.
Would I lessen my make-up to get a job? Hmmmm. Possibly, if I thought it was the job of my dreams and would make me happy most days. It would save you time in the mornings

Eh, just tone down your make up for work, it doesn't really mean anything. You can keep it as you like it during out of work hours. Lots of places do have a policy on appearance and it's best just to stick to that and then let your hair down after work. I only started really wearing make up after my job required that I did - I was told off for not wearing enough!

If you want the job then yep - tone it down. Sorry. I look totally different at weekends then I do at work, but I know that it's an inappropriate look. Once you've been there for a while you can always try gradually upping the look :-)
But it does suck when you have to change something you feel makes you you. I used to have bright blue hair which I loved but my area manager went of on one about it (two months after I'd had it done). Told me I had to change it. So I went bright red. Wasn't what she meant apparently ........
This job however.... I've had blue streaks in the underneath of my hair for a couple of months and no bosses have bought it up yet :-) (although I do wonder if that's due to the male pact to never critique on a womans hair)

Nah - it's the male tendency to never notice a woman's hair ...

This is what I do with piercings. Start by taking them all out, then gradually "forgetting" to take one out until I just leave it in altogether and then do the same with another piercing, and then another...
By the time I stopped working in a nursery to start Uni, I was wearing all 12 of my piercings and had started stretching my ear. Not a single staff member, parent or child said anything about it
