hair black to blonde?
hi girls just wondering if you think its possible to dye black hair to blonde? my hair is in great condition natural colour is blonde/v.light brown. my plan was to lift the colour myself then if it all goes wrong go to the hairdressers but i'd rather have a go myself first! anyone else had any experiences of this? have you got permanent or semi permanent dye on your hair now?

I think that might be possible. Try and get most of the colour out first though.

yeah, do a strand test, to check how long the development time is... you don't want it to come out gingerish...
it is probably best to lighten it first and then bleach it. You can always put a toner on too.

Hair dying - good advice
Hi there
My flat mate is an award winning hairdresser and offers the following advice: go to a hairdresser unless you want the risk of hair damage ie hair breaking or falling out from exposure to the wrong chemicals...

Is black your real colour? I would say where bleach is in the mix go to a hair dresser. x

Don't try it yourself!!!! My hair's naturally blonde and I thought it was in good enough condition to strip back...until I got my hairdresser to do a strand test for me (I was going to strip it at home but got her to check first).....and the strand of hair turned into chewing gum like crap.
Where your hair and chemicals are concerned, definately leave it to the professionals!

Seek professional help hon! Seriously!
I'm naturally mousey and keep my hair blonde with an ammonia-free animal-friendly formula which I have found does the least damage over the long term. Last year I went vivid magenta for an event and it took months and months to get it back to blonde. It's still in awful condition really despite my using an exciting array of specialist conditioners and treatments. Even a hairdresser might refuse to go through with such a drastic colour-change and may recommend you go brown instead as an interim measure. What would you rather have - glossy dark hair in its present good condition or blonde tresses with the consistancy of candy floss? Proceed with caution and may the force be with you! x
