Default Good Shops in Manchester

I'm going to manchester in a couple of weeks (my boyfriend is taking me for my birthday).

I've been a few times, but just wondering if any of you guys know of any good shops that sell gorgeous stuff.

Want to make sure I've not missed a absolute gem of a shop.

Thanks

Have you ever been to Afflecks Palace? It's a treasure trove for vintage clothes and fancy dress and all manner of weird and wonderful things! It's off the main street, where Primark is, if you walk away from Piccadilly gardens it's a street on the right hand side, I think it's in between Debenhams opposite Primark and it's a bit of a walk down there - its a big old building and has about 5 floors - most of the vintage is on the top 3 floors, the rest is more modern punky stuff

loves it!!

So glad to hear Afflecks Palace is still going strong - I spent way too many Saturdays and more cash than I could afford in there during the 80s. So glad it hasn't gone the same way as the Hacienda

I love afflecks palace. The first time I went in I thought all my dreams had come true.

I thinks there not as many shops now due to the refurb.

There's a good few on the top floor - or the second to top floor, I forget. My boyfriend and I spent about an hour up there dressing up in all the old clothes and costumes when we were in Manchester last month!! Much fun!

I went to visit my friend in Manchester a while ago and she excitedly took me to Afflecks, telling me I'd love it. I was less than impressed to tell the truth. Maybe I missed the particularly good shops - or maybe the migraine I had that day meant I wasn't appreciating it. Poor girl was ever so disappointed when we weren't in there long!

It was supposed to be but someone bought and is trying to restore it a little.

But I believe that the lease prices have gone up for the traders.
