I'm doing a fan dance in a show at the moment and in the dress rehearsal last night my left pastie fell off!
I've just done the Can Can a few songs before and so am dripping with sweat. Any tips (apart from washing and drying my chest) to getting my pasties to stay on? I'm using tit tape at the moment but is there a glue that is sturdier?
Double-sided craft tape is much stronger than tit tape...
...but you have to make sure you secure the edges of your pasties down, otherwise your fans can catch your pasties and get stuck! Also, I'd advise against wearing craft tape for a long time, if only because it's not designed for use on skin.
If that fails, Margaret Cho used to used CARPET ADHESIVE TAPE. Hardcore.
I use Carpet Adhesive tape as well It has an advantage on tit tape in that it's really strong plus it's not transparent so in the unlikely event that your pastie comes off your nipple is still covered.
There is also spirit gum but you need to check to make sure you don't have an allergy to either the gum or the remover. Some people use latex adhesive and I have heard of people using toupee tape as well.
WARNING! Carpet tape can cause scarring! This is one of the reasons Margaret Cho has given for retiring from the Burlesque stage! Hardcore maybe, b.ut also potentially harmful...
That said, anything that you attatch to your skin can cause adverse side effects.
I would also warn against spirit gum if you fly abroad frequently: I had a horrendous allergic reaction due to this that screwed up an important show in Rome a bit and couldn't fasten my clothes for about 3 days. To say nothing of the pain.
I'd say an occasional loss can be an occupational hazard: but tape sticks better to unmoisturised skin so it helps if you avoid the area before a show...
I've also known girls to use standard double-sided sticky tape, or Copydex glue!!
I think it's about trying different ways in the safety of your own home and choosing the one that suits you best in terms of security, minimal pain and ease of use!
