I have a great vintage hairdresser in Edinburgh but I couldn't really say anything about further south.

I tend to do my on hair really, so I don't know! It's incredibly thick and I hate to see hairdressers sweat over it, so I just don't let them! Only when the time arises for a quick trim do I surface for a trip to the hair salon. If your hair is dry, VO5's hot oil treatment works wonders, especially if you intend on curling your hair straight after, or if your hair is already curly (mine is when it's longer)! As for proper vintage hairdressers, I've never been to one before. You might try just skipping through images to get a picture of what it is you want and then take it to a salon and see what they say! Sorry I can't be any more help than that honey, but good luck my doll!

It depends the kind of thing that you want. My last haircut was a drastic change, I had most of it cut off, and being new to the area, I just had to guess who would be good. Turns out I chose well as one of the other girls working there commented on how 20s it looked (I hadn't mentioned anything about wanting a 'vintage' cut) which made my day.

Anyway, my tip is to go to where the old ladies go!! Especially if there is an 'older' hairdresser, they'll have more of an idea on what to do if you're going for the full works, shampoo & set etc etc.

Hello - I have only had 1 vintage cut which Nina did when I was in London and I loved it but haven't got a hairdresser up here yet.

Special Sundae - which hairdressers do you go to as I work in Edinburgh and need a recommendation as my hair is getting out of control.

I join in, I'm trying to find a hairdresser in the Northeast. Not much luck yet. I had a brilliant hairdresser in Germany who could do anything really. Now I'm realy struggling since I moved over.

I go to Razor's Edge, not exactly vintage but very very very good! There's several in Manchester, the one I go to is fountain street, behind Primark. Student discount Monday to Wednesday, very friendly staff, quite expensive (my hair is £35-40 usually) The girl i go to is great - I've got naturally curly hair and she really makes the best of it, and she gave me a fantastic fringe which, depending on how I style it, is a mixture of Alex Zane, Kristen Schaal from Flight of the Concords and Betty Page. Then again that says more about my hair type!
