Bank Holiday Monday Pasties!!
Hoorah,
The pasties for the Tournement of Tease on September 20th are now finished...I'm keeping my character firmly underwraps, until the big unveiling, but I thought I'd share with you the pasties we've just finished.
Made from a rice crispie box (never managed to find buckrum), feathers and sequins!
Hope some of you will be able to see them in 'action' in September.

Oooh, lovely fiery phoenix colouring on those! My inner pyromaniac is grinning terribly.
I just finished my first pair of pasties, mostly to see if I could make them, and I can't help but think of cherry bakewells! Snow white with a little bright red heart in the centre of each one. Of course, cherry bakewells don't have crystal bead edging or feathers adorning them. I hope not anyway.

Thank you, your white ones sound lovely - you should post a picture!
I love the fact that they are make-able at home. Obviously not as professional (or light) as bought ones, but they add an extra touch to a costume. I'm not sure I could make tassled ones though - might end up being off centre and twirling oddly!

Not having worn pasties before (the shock! the amazement!), I'm not sure how rigid they need to be- at the moment, they're just cones of craft felt with added extras. According to my logic, the flexibility of the felt should make them easier to stick or wear- but not having worn them, I wouldn't know. The feathers are fluffier than I'd like them to be, but I couldn't find any craft stores when I was out on Saturday and ended up going to John Lewis instead and all they had was fluff...
Still, here's the result-

I have several pairs of pasties and they range in flexibility from rigid to quite supple. I would recommend that if you plan to do any striptease and wear them under a bra that you make sure they're quite rigid. Every time I wear my roulette pasties they get squished by my bra because the backing is quite flexible ...

There's a thought! Fire and Ice pasties- your fiery phoenix set and my cherry bakewell/ice queen set. Has the fire/ice contrast been done by a pair of performers before? It could look lovely.
