Paralympic Closing Ceremony
Bit of a shameless self-plugging exercise here, but if any of you happen to be watching the telly tomorrow at about lunchtime, I highly recommend the BBC2 coverage of the Paralympic Closing ceremony, (starts about 1pm). as it will be my international Debut as a costumier! For 3 months I slaved on that ruddy shiny man's costume, (literally, slaved, the Union was not pleased)
So, if you do happen to be watching and you see the shiny man during the London 2012 bit, that's my blood sweat and tears on that there podium. :excited:

How fantastic! Well done you! Me and the kids are totally swept up in Olympic/Paralympic fever. (I don't think a 5 year old has any real concept just how long it is til 2012). I shall remember to watch and look out for the shiny man!

We will deffo be watching.
We're loving the paralympics too (my eldest goes to school in the place that Baron Coubertin first 'nicked' the idea from for the modern olympics, in fact it is a Coubertin School (which I'd never heard of before they started) so naturally they go big time on the olympics and paralympics) I'm so proud of Team GB getting their 102 medals, so many heros, especially loving Dave Roberts, Ellie Simmonds (can't believe she's so composed and cool about everything at just 13), the wonderful Heather Frederiksen, and Matt Skelhon winning made me cry buckets whilst laughing too.
What colour will the shiny man be in, or is there only one shiny man so I can't miss him?The Russian Doll Lass - like Shrek's onion, but with sequins...

Oooh I think it's coming now - they've just sung our national anthem and are about to hand over the flag....:excited:
Oh please not the exploding London bus again, please no....oh it's ok, it's starting opened, not exploding once its got there.
Ah yes, that is a big hat....and very very shiny! That's fab! I hope you get some good publicity shots of that lacewingpetticoats to get in future business.....do you think you'll get used for the 2012 opening/closing ceremonies too?
And there are tea and cakes...oh that's much better
Actually that was way better than Jimmy Page and Leona Lewis (even though Led Zepp are gods to me)....who needs Beckham when when you've got Ade Adepitan grinning at the camera like that! The Russian Doll Lass - like Shrek's onion, but with sequins...

That would be something, wouldn't it? Hopefully they might actually pay me if I were; they didn't this time, but I think I've won some sort of prize. I think 'celebrities' often detract from these sorts of things, as they are seen more as a 'personality' rather than blending into the performance.
Back to Uni now! gargh, the summer's been and gone and I barely noticed. Nearly finished my first proper Burlesque costume now and I did some for an Irish Dancing troupe in the spring, so all in all I've really built up the ol' portfolio. A week in Guernsey would have been nice though *sigh*
