corset worries :(
Just a little concern, i want to train my waist down, and i know that it has to be done slowly etc. But upon reading the advice online, it says that it displaces ur organs  , Im worried that this will affect my future health and most importantly my fertility! eeek.
Does anyone know if its dangerous??? :help:

You're shocked by that? If you're squeezing your waist down, your insides obviously have to go somewhere! I'm not 100% conversant with all the risks, but there are some which will obviously increase the smaller you go (and the quicker you get there).
The main risk is, perhaps obviously, intestinal contortion, leading to stomach pain, shortness of breath and possibly necessitating surgery. You also risk things like reduced stomach and bladder capacity. Do all your research before getting into tightlacing, go very slowly using custom corsets made to fit your body and pay close attention to what your body is telling you.
Tight-lacing is extreme body modification and must not be undertaken lightly. If you're shocked to learn that your organs might move, then you certainly need to do much more reading on the subject. Good luck with the project, though, and let us know how you get on!

The way I had it explained to me is 'the human body is a very flexible thing, When you're pregnant the human organs move into new positions and are fine. However this is a very gradual process and every day a small adjustment occurs. This along with the gradual decreasement when you stop is why organs aren't damaged. This is why waist training is such a gradual careful process, and requires a lot of thought and commitment'

Oh, and an Amazon search for books to recommend (Amazon.co.uk: tight lacing) brought up "Fowler on tight lacing: Founded on physiology and phrenology : or, The evils inflicted on mind and body by compressing the organs of animal life, and thereby retarding and enfeebling the vital functions"
I know C&S Constructions are very good for tight-lacing corsets from the body-mod side, and have a very long and distinguished professional history in supplying waist-training corsets. They'd be a good bet for sourcing what you're after, and their site has links to articles and advice for the novice.

I'm starting waist training and the best advice I can give is do it gradually, get a custom made corset, not off the peg as it will be shaped to your body and will be a safer bet for you. Listen to your body, don't rush anything and if it hurts, take it slower.
This months Bizzarre has a big article about waist-training with Vicky Butterfly (I'd image she'll pop up on this thread soon! lol) and she has loads of good advice.Nouveau Showgirl

Definitely get a custom corset - one that isn't made specifically for you is likely to squish your ribs rather than your waist and it can lead to pretty severe health problems.
Apparently the organ displacement that can occur whilst pregnant is far worse than organ displacement whilst wearing a corset. I'd just do your research, and see if it's something you want to take on. Maybe talk to your doctor about it? I know one tight-lacer but I don't think that she was exactly... careful with the way that she did it, so I can't really offer you any more advice.
Good luck though! x

Thanks everyone, you have all helped ease my mind loads. It wasnt really a shock to learn about the displacement, just concerned me a little (mainly my mothers fault with the scare mongering lol)
Im not planning on going too tiny anyway, and im saving now for a custom made underbust corset (any tips of who is good?)
Take care xxxxxx:hug:

Hi honey, you have the same worries I had a couple of years ago. I got my custom corsets and skirts from a designer in Liverpool called Booby Trapp. I found her in dressmakers in yell.com and telephoned her on the off chance that she could make me a custom corset...3 years later I am still using her to gradually, safely and very slowly, waist train . She doesnt have a shop as such, but you go to a studio to get measured and sized up..Hope this helps..Keep me posted...

As I said, if tight-lacing is your goal and you want a corset specifically for that, I can heartily recommend C&S who I linked to above - they're pros with a long history of making corsets for continuous wear with the view to altering body shape. 'Normal' corsets, even custom made ones, are not usually designed with permanent wear in mind, and can thus cause more problems.
