Fabric Stores Brighton & London
Hi All,
I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the range at my options of store for fabric, etc in Brighton. There's two in the North lanes and the Fabricland. I think perhaps I have champagne tastes on a cider budget! Does anyone have suggestions for Brighton or nearby as far as London?
I'm trying to find some oriental and Indian fabrics, tassles and tassled material, bases for headdresses and hairpieces, and lace cloth. I can only seem to find trimming lace here. My other problem is price, so if anyone knows of reasonably priced places as well please share!

Actually, on a similar topic, if anyone in Brighton would be interested in doing a skills share with me please let me know! I can't use a sowing machine but if you're willing to offer some sowing time I'd be happy to offer equal time doing tedious crystal gluing or hand stitching. It could be nice to get a few girls (and boylesquers) together for tea, gossip and help each other out with costuming? Might be a nice way to meet more local performers?
Anyway, let me know if you're interested!

Yes I've heard of a few great stores in Soho but mefears they will be beyond my budget. I'm looking for tons of range at super cheap (not much at all I know!) so I think the markets are probably my safest option now. I will probably have a look at some of the stores though and do the if-I-were-rich-I'd-buy-that!

I also recall the John Lewis's in London being alot bigger than normal so they may be worth a look.
I went into one when I was at fashion college, were we saw Yazz(80's singer/the only way is up)one of my few claims to fame.

Hi,
There's a market in Green Street, east London that does great Asian style fabrics at very reasonable prices. Also a stall with lots of fancy trimmings. it's open on saturdays. Go early or late to avoid the crush. Closest tube is Upton Park, turn right and it's just there. You could also explore all the amazing sari shops that abound along the streets on both sides of the road.
